Hello everyone.

I have an old 3DS which I didn't boot up for about a month. I thought it would be time for it to be used again since smea's hack is coming and I have a userland exploit.

My 3DS is at original firmware 11.6-39E. Last time I turned it on was a month ago to play Super Mario 3D Land on my official cartridge.
It ran out of battery while I was playing. I then put it in a drawer and never turn it on until yesterday. I plugged it to the wall and went to do something else immediately.

When I went back to it, 3 or 4 hours later, the 3DS wasn't showing any light. I guessed it was now fully charged. Still plugged, I pressed the Power button. Nothing happened.
I started to get worried. I unplugged the 3ds and try to press the button, nothing happens too.

I plugged it again, and I saw that every time that i plug it, the orange light stays for 6 seconds. No more, no less. Every single time.

When it's plugged and i press the button repeatedly, either the blue light flashes for less than 1 second, either the orange light does. In verrrry rare times, the power light flashes red instead of blue.

The console never turned on again. The battery and AC cable are both in good conditions. My 3DS was never fully opened, only at the layer where you find the battery.

Sorry for long post, I had to troubleshoot exactly what I had. Now thanks for your help guys, and let's fix this together :)

How could it have torn? The 3DS never fell, and it was still working perfectly just moments before i put it in the drawer.

It could mean disconnected I suppose (?), but usually it means the cable is torn and must be replaced. This repair is a total pain.

Is it actually normal that I hear a noise coming from inside the console when I shake it?

The cable is razor thin and fragile.

I am not saying it did tear, but just a suggestion.

If you don't hear popping after trying to turn it on then it's probably not the ribbon cable.

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Also nice. Never really watched Fallout on Prime, but sounds like a good show. +1
