Hey guys. Nice to meet you all. So here's my problem, I was downloading a Japanese game (Doubutsu no Mori e+, basically updated Animal Crossing.) After finishing, I went to play. None of my USB games were there. That was weird. So I put it into my PC to see what's up. To my horror, instead of ADATA UFD, the PC recognised it as ADADA QF@. Fine, I thought that's just a glitch. I opened it. And to more horror, all of my stuff (Wii games, GC games, homebrew, saves) were practically gone, I could recognise my Yabause folder, now called (up arrow) use. My WiiSX folder with my games was OK, although called RiiSX. (Couldn't access them due to wrong folder name.) This is really freaky, can you help me out of all of this and retain my stuff?

Sounds like filesystem corruption (or, possibly, hardware damage like one address line on the memory chip becoming disconnected - but that would be a very interesting failure)
(I assume that's a flash drive, from what it probably supposed to be "ADATA"?)
The simple and reliable solution is to throw it away (or otherwise label as unreliable), get a replacement, and load back the files you ought to have kept backups of
FAT32 filesystem usually have two copies of the FAT, but I don't think they have two copy of the directories (which include the filenames), sorry

What?! Sounds like some kind of corruption to me. There might be data recovery programs that can recreate now-corrupted data but IDK.

I was just now experimenting and looking into it, I renamed the RiiSX folder to normal and there you go, Crash, Parappa and Lammy work. (P.S. Tried one of these data recovery things, to my surprise, found my covers, Wii and GC games. Saved to my PC's HDD. Now, formatting won't work if it's a memory chip error, will it?
EDIT: Should I buy a new one?

I never seen anyone recover from this File table corruption. (even though FAT32 should have a backup table, they usually are corrupted at the same time? I don't know when the copy is swapped)
it can happen if you eject your device without using safe eject option, or it shutdowns while writing to it (power lost, etc.).

if you have a lot of difficulties reading/accessing the drive to backup your files, then it's dying and each time you try to connect or read from it, the less you can do it. format will not help, it would even freeze. in that case, you need to buy another one.
