Hello everyone. So I have a simple question. Every so often, the 3DS Home screen will keep nagging you about updating your system when an update is available. To get right to the point, with all the homebrew that is available at this time, is there some sort of Homebrew app that will completely stop that annoying message about updating your system from popping up? Because I get the sense, one of these days I'm accidentally Press A at that screen, and after that there's no going back. Thanks in advance!

If you have cfw, go to FBI -> Pending Titles -> Press A -> Delete all titles.

If you don't have cfw, do this
https://www.3dbrew.org/wiki/Recovery_Mode
Except cancel instead of updating.

Not exactly sure how that is connected to the message popping up to tell you there's a system update available, but I DID noticed I had some pending titles so I deleted them by your suggestion. Don't know what it did for me though.

I personally don't know. I thought I'd ask if there's just some way to block it out completely cause I saw there was an option with Chtulu to stop titles from nagging you about updates, so I wondered if the same could be done for system updates. I mean playing with Wireless off is an option but it varies from game to game if I need the wireless for something like with Pokemon.

Yeah I totally understand and its not for everybody to disable WI-fi, but with all this 11.8 shit ,I figured I'd take the liberty to just ban myself from online before Nintendo does it to me lol. I'm still on 11.6 and I think ill just keep it that way for a long time till Nintendo's telemetry can be undermined, but at the current state of things it doesn't look good/hopeful for now.

Sleep mode with wifi on will redownload the update.

So just avoid that if you can.

Ah cool. So just disable the WiFi before you go to sleep every time, that's not too bad then.

Because the update is a pending title waiting to install, if its no longer there, no nag. The recovery thing works too in that it deletes any pending updates to download a new copy (in case the previous one is corrupt). leaving without updating means no more pending update, also no nag.

this freeshop sleep download thing, do yiu mean when the screen goes dark when downloading a game?
Freeshop and sleep downloads are two different things. The sleep download is when you start a download but then use the official eshop to "redownload" while the system sleeps. Neither of these are safe on 11.8.

im still on 11.7. so would it be safe if i never go on the official eshop? cause i dont go on it just incase they can scan through what games i have.
also is it best to sign out of nintendo id?

Nope. What I mean is when instead of pressing the download button, you press the "moon" button which makes sleep download happen. Then, when it says it is ready to sleep download, you close the system, then it initiates sleep mode and the game / app downloads. When it is finished it appears on the home screen and notifies you. Visit https://en-americas-support.nintend...026/~/how-to-place-the-system-into-sleep-mode for more information.

That isn't completely true. While you CAN do that, what I mean is when you press the moon thing while on freeShop and then go to the home menu. The present that comes (what you are downloading) will download when you put the system in safe mode. freeShop sleep downloads and the sleep downloads you mentioned are yes, both unsafe. However, TECHNICALLY freeShop downloads that aren't sleep downloaded are FINE because they don't use the NIM module, which sends the security ticket to the server. However, this may change in the future.

I WOULD sign out of the NNID but do some backups first just in case. I seriously don't think they will scan through your games on official eShop.

Also, since you are on 11.7, it won't let you access the eShop because you need to be on 11.8 to do that.
