Hey, just as said in the title: I’m buying a Switch and want to know a couple of things.
First of all. How to start? I heard so many different things.. I heard atmosphere, SX OS, signature, hexate...
What’s the best method right now, can someone explain it to me?
I thought that I just buy SX Pro, but I suppose a ReINX cfw has been released with signature patches... does that mean we can install .CIAs, similarly to the 3DS?
And last question: what file format do the games have to be to work? I heard .xci, is that true? And we save them on SD card? Thanks in advance guys

Are you worried about getting banned? If so I'd hold off and buy some games first. Enjoy the online before it becomes a paid service in September.

.xci is like .3ds for Switch. & .nsp is like .cia for Switch. A SX Pro can allow you to play both of these, however ReiNX does have patches for playing nsp files, not too sure about XCI files though. NSP can be played through the system memory itself, while XCI must be played through the SD card. For now, I guess. Getting these CFW's and other types of things to play games for free is baby shit easy, however, things like DevMenu, should not be used anymore, considering the ban risk of using it is extremely high. I believe SX Pro now offers a way to install NSP files without DevMenu. I am not too familiar with other methods in installing NSPs, so you may need to do a bit of research yourself on that.

I recommend ReiNX, SX Pro or just wait until Atmosphere gets released, which will be this month, I assume. Up to you though.

Ok thx all I needed to know. I’ll see what I do once I get my Switch.

also keep in mind if your buying brand new right now you run the risk of a patched switch, this may stop you from doing anything for now until a workaround is released.
What? Since when do we have patched Switches?

https://news.softpedia.com/news/nin...dboot-exploit-in-nintendo-switch-521960.shtml

Since early July, the fix prevents you from pushing payloads to your switch. I would check used sites for a switch, in Canada the used market sites are flooded with cheap switches purchased recently due to stores running promo that made them very cheap and come with receipts and full warranty. You can ask the seller for the serial number then check if its going to be an older unpatched version or not.

This list here will help you figure out if its likely to be usable with current exploits based on the serial numbers.
