Clarification on some misinformation about the new update

#1 Starting the installed 'cia' game - ̶o̶p̶i̶n̶i̶o̶n̶s̶ ̶d̶i̶f̶f̶e̶r̶ safely same as as on 11.7
#2 Installing the game 'cia' by fbi - safely same as as on 11.7
#3Installing the 'cia' game update via the 3ds menu - safely same as as on 11.7
#4 Playing the online multiplayer game 'cia' - ̶o̶p̶i̶n̶i̶o̶n̶s̶ ̶d̶i̶f̶f̶e̶r̶ safely same as as on 11.7
#5 Using cheat's - not safe, the same as on 11.7

#6 Installing the game through the freeShop program - NOT SAFE
#7Installing a non-owned game through the nintendo store - NOT SAFE

It seems that it is best not to combine cfw 3ds NNID with Switch / Wiiu and use 3DS offline. At least for a few days before we finding out more.

In my understanding of things #1 and #4 risk is same as on 11.7

Actually, you might be right. He is talking about CDN and not cias (I guess... idk now).

I don't get the first two points. Ok, I've installed the game via fBI , but the first point says that I can't start installed cia game. Soo, I can install via FBI ,but cannot start the game?Or what can I do?

so is it safe to play fbi installed cia games when 3ds wifi is turned off or does firmware 11.8 keep a record of ticket info of what you play and report to ninty servers to flag you soon as you turn wifi back on?
i was hoping to play fbi isntalled cia games with wifi switched off and still be able to turn on wifi to access the eshop in order to purchase some new games and dump them if need be.
from now on not being able to get game updates from nintendo servers is going to be a pain. maybe the 3ds scene needs a site like that unity site for xbox360 where they keep a huge database of game updates.
when needing a update for a 360 game you go to the site and match the title id, download and install.
the unity site method works well for 360 games but we have been spoiled with 3ds updates direct from ninty servers and now thats not possible we need another option.
trawling the usual places on the net net searching for updates will be a real chore without a dedicated 3ds updates site.

Just don't update until we figure out everything that's going on.

The real question would be if the new firmware applies ticket reporting retroactively to games you already have installed, or if it only works on new games you install after patching. I think it would be very complex to generate and validate tickets for your old games.

Ok thanks, then I will wait. But what do you mean by "very complex to generate and validated tickets for you old games" ? Does this means that they will be invalid once I update or that nintendo will not be able to block online the games I already have? D:

I haven't seen an answer to this in any threads yet:

If I have ripped a copy of a game I physically own and installed the .cia digitally using GodMode ... is it safe under 11.8 to 1) launch that game and 2) play online with it? Is there any possibility of this being flagged as a ban-able offense?

from what I know they'd list you as using a illegal game as it wasnt a digital copy you bought but a physical one(which shouldnt be a cia)

So not safe to go online at all if I have any cia installed?
I only used online for pokemon shuffle, not worth risking a ban for that.

Interesting. So would this also apply to Sky3DS+ as well, or would that still 'appear' to be a physical cart? I'd love to NOT have to go back to Sky3DS (as I just recently went the CFW route) to play online ... but I guess I may have to.

Is there anyway we can get online to work on lower versions? I know there was one homebrew application called ctr-something that allows you to access stuff without updating, but it's dead/patched after 11.5.

1. Not safe.
4. Not safe.
Because IIRC, Ninty can now detect if you really own the game (just like on switch).

Please stop spreading misinformation....
