If you are going with CTRTransfer, first go with godmode9, if that won't work try it with decrypt9 and if even that won't work, go with lazarus3ds.

When you installed custom firmware, did you follow the 3ds.hack.guide -or- a video tutorial from YouTube?

For future reference, don't use video tutorials because outdated CFW methods can and will brick your system.

Try this...
- Copy everything off your card onto computer.
- Reformat in FAT32 + 32 KB cluster size. Use guiformat if your card is bigger than 32 GB.
- Check your (empty) SD card with H2testw doing a Full Write + Verify test. See if it passes inspection.
- Try a bare bone CFW setup using the files in the archive found at this post.
If the instructions above do not work, did you ever get to the step in the video where you backed up the NAND *.bin image? Try restoring it if you did make it.

Other than CTRtransfer and Lazarus3DS, no. Along with SysNAND restore, those are the three major recovery methods for software bricks.
Did the test CFW setup fail on you? Remember, try it with none of your original files in place.

Oh no. Can you confirm several things for me. I'm asking these specific questions because I fear for the worst. You might have a specific type of BSoD (black screens of death) brick that is considered unrecoverable.
- You said you hear background music. Do you hear sound at the HOME Menu?
- At HOME Menu, are the screens black or blank?
- What happens when you try to navigate and press buttons? Does the 3DS freezes or do the scroll makes clicking noises?
- Despite not working at HOME Menu, do the screens work in Recovery Mode?
- Is your unit a New 3DS XL model?
- What year is print on the inside behind the bottom plate? Check the spoiler below.
- What region is it? If you're the original owner, what date or year did you buy it?
When I move around in the home screen the music stops, the screens are black,recovery mode works,it is a new 3ds XL and it is from 2014,na region
