TX Releases Another Update To Their SX OS, with lots of nice improvements in v1.4

We have not heard from TX for a while, but don't worry, they back with nice new update to their SX OS, check out v1.4 below:

SX OS v1.4 Announcement
Good day, loyal users!

While we chip away at many different features for SX OS and additions to our SX hardware family we took a break to prepare an update for SX OS with some exciting new functionality and outstanding bug fixes.

Let's have a look at what's new and fixed in this release:
  • Integrated NSP installer
With our last update we introduced the possibility of installing eShop NSP titles. However, this relied on using external tools and wasn't very user friendly. In this release we bring our own integrated NSP installer as part of our menu system. This is the neatest and easiest way of installing NSP titles, enjoy!
  • Integrated homebrew launcher
Launching homebrew used to be done by launching NX HBMenu by holding R when entering the album. While we kept this possibility (mostly for developers), you can now also launch your favorite homebrew directly from our own menu!
  • IR / motion plus issue fixed
A few games (like 1-2-Switch and Resident Evil) were suffering from freezes when enabling the joycon IR camera or motion controls.
  • Allow unsigned NCA
People asked us if we could get rid of the NCA integrity checks, so we did! Custom NCA files, modified NCA files and repackaged NCA files should all work fine now.
  • Display SX OS version in menu
To better distinguish the different versions of SX OS we introduced a small version number display in our menu.
  • LayeredFS fixes for 4.1.0
There were certain issues with 'LayeredFS' for people on firmware 4.1.0. If you use 'LayeredFS' on that specific firmware there's good news for you: these issues have been identified and fixed!
And that's that for this release. We have quite the backlog of feature requests and todo's on our plate, but trust we'll get there!

This release is not making it any easier to hold off on updating to 5.x fw, OR trying out .nsp files. Temptations...

why are ppl so quick to judge?

"they stole tinfoil code" (where's your proof?) (also it install dlc and updates, Tinfoil can't do that yet, so idk what ur smoking)
"they're playing catch up" (so what? recently they're software got decrypted and was about to be cracked, they have the right to hold off on releasing the next version, your not the fk boss)
"they're making money" (and? updates are for their paying customers, there's free alternatives, use that if your so triggered by ppl trying to make a living to feed their family)

Haters gonna hate.

But seriously, another awesome update. I can't wait to get home and delete DevMenu, Pokemon Quest, and all traces of LayeredFS (because it raises a red flag). Man, if they'd add a cheat engine, I could not ask for more.

They aren't quick to judge bro.
Its preconceptions that TX hates the community and does more harm than good apparently.
They are the next "gateway", whatever that means.Burned once hey...

Now I was not around in the 3DS scene,so I don't know what happened. What I do know is I paid for a product that's pretty much delivering on my expectations.Even if it was abandoned right now,it still does the job it said it would do.Closed source or not

As others have mentioned, we steal from Nintendo by pirating, some pirates just want transparency when it comes to this theft. Let's call it homebrew, and say we hate piracy,it will make us feel much better.
The beloved emulators that the HB community loves are mostly stolen games not so?
Yes there are legitimate cases like those that only ever backup games they own.and copy save files of games they own.and play on emulators of systems of games they own...but realistically, these people are few and far between.more the exception than the rule.

Lastly,I feel its the principal of the matter.
Stolen code = So bad you shouldn't consider it. I wish TX would credit devs,it gives them one less thing to moan about.
The crux of the matter is simplicity.
There are free alternatives to the product.nobody is forcing anyone else to use it.You really have to ask yourself, how much is your time worth.
People get shunned when they don't understand concepts, laughed at and made fun of by the very community that loves open source.Yet when they ask for help, 2/10 people provide helpful replies while the rest make jokes or direct the person to google.

In this regard,is your time so valuable to you, you'd rather spend 5 hours learning a process to only have to change it tomorrow, where TX says "here's what you can do in 2 minutes, just pay us for the privilege"

Edit : F-it that's a long post.
TL;DR - TX bundles all developments into an "AIO package" you pay the privilege to use.Open source is available if you have the time and patience and don't mind dealing with a whole lot of different guides

And for the record,I love reading guides.I have a lot of time at the moment so gaining knowledge is pretty beneficial, but I support TX too

We need a stable ftp program for the switch. FTPd causes crashes even on SX OS 1.4. This way we can ftp NSP files to the SD Card so SX OS can utilize them with their new installer. #no_rebooting_ftw
The crashes are caused by SX OS though - This is not ftpd's fault anymore

Just remove the license-request.dat from your SD dude, you don't need it anymore once activated. FTPd works fine for me

What we really need is a way to plug the switch in via USB and transfer files that way.
Would be nice yes.
But the system would need to refresh when unplugged

You think that file causes issues or just making a general observation

I Think the Ban Risk is even high then before
With installing NSP

It isn't high enough. I've been using nsp installer since sx1.1 even with wifi on. I haven't got banned yet. Just don't play game with online functionality check on load such as Fifa 2018, N++ etc...

TX could have given a bit better instructions on how to install NSP... I tried installing Stardew Valley but it said something about 'unable to install/missing Title ID'.

To be fair it was the first and only one I've tried so far, and I have a feeling I'm missing some kind of step... what did I miss?

(Also, if you see this post ConcernedApe, know that I did already buy it on Switch, just trying to put it back on it in a post SX OS world hahaha)

Having the same problem with Stardew Valley

3 other games work without any problems though.

Maybe a bad dump?
