Kind of a noob question since I never used this. I'm planning to unlink my Nintendo account and it gave me a warning that my saves will no longer work or be deleted. If I backup my save with checkpoint and create a new profile, would I be able to use the old save tied to my Nintendo link account to a new profile? I know xbox/ps3 back in the day needed a profile resigner but not sure if this is the case with nintendo.
Some saves are encrypted, I can't vouch for all games, but it would be best to test this by creating another dummy profile, batch back up your save, launch the game atleast once on the new profile so it creates a save slot based on that profile, then use checkpoint to restore it, if the save launches without an issue then its fine.

I'm having an issue with Football Manager Touch, I can backup the save, edit it but when trying to import it back,
checkpoint just hangs. No error code, nothing, just hangs and I need to reboot the switch.

Any idea what may be causing this? If I missed any information, just point it out to me and I will give them.

Is there any way to restore a save for a game I only have on LayeredFS at the moment (it doesn't appear in the left column)? Thanks!

Back up the donor game, and on the SD card you'll find the target game's save files as well. Replace the file you wanted to restore and go back to Checkpoint.

Anyone know easy way to transfer the save file to PC's ?
I tried using FTPD and always get 426 Connection broken during transfer when transfering backup save

That's not answering my question. I backed up the save before doing a restore, now I don't have the physical copy of the game anymore (lent it to a friend), and cannot restore the save using only the LayeredFS version of the game since it doesn't appear in the available games.

I guess I'll just wait to get the game back :)

I copied the files to sd:/switch/Checkpoint

then booted sx os and opened album while holding R, but album is closing immediately then.

am I doing something wrong or is it just not working with sx os?
What files did you copy to "sd:/switch/Checkpoint"??

I'm trying with the Checkpoint.nro and it doesn't work. Trying FW 4.1 with SX OS 1.3 and nx-hbmenu already in root.

Do you think when Nintendo Cloud saving arrives, Nintendo would build in something like a save verifier? Like it checks if a save is edited and has some stuff in it the player shouldnt have? Like unavailable items in BOTW or some shit?

Checkpoint
A fast and simple homebrew save manager for 3DS and Switch written in C++.

Why use Checkpoint?
Checkpoint is created following ideas of simplicity and efficiency. The UI has been designed to condense as many options as possible, while keeping it simple to work with.

Moreover, Checkpoint is extremely lightweight - while being packaged with a nice graphic user interface - and is built using the most recent libraries available.

Checkpoint for 3DS natively supports 3DS and DS cartridges, digital standard titles and demo titles. It also automatically checks and filters homebrew titles which may not have a save archive to backup or restore, which is done without an external title list and filters. For this reason, Checkpoint doesn't need constant user maintenance to retain full functionality.

Checkpoint for Switch natively supports NAND saves for the titles you have played. Title informations are loaded automatically.

Working path
Checkpoint relies on the following folders to store the files it generates. Note that all the working directories are automatically generated on first launch (or when Checkpoint finds a new title that doesn't have a working directory yet).

3DS
  • sdmc:/3ds/Checkpoint: root path
  • sdmc:/3ds/Checkpoint/saves/<unique id> <game title>: root path for all the save backups for a generic game
  • sdmc:/3ds/Checkpoint/extdata/<unique id> <game title>: root path for all the extdata backups for a generic game
Switch
  • sdmc:/switch/Checkpoint: root path
  • sdmc:/switch/Checkpoint/saves/<title id> <game title>: root path for all the save backups for a generic game
Usage
You can use Checkpoint for 3DS with both cfw and Rosalina-based Homebrew Launchers. *hax-based Homebrew Launchers are not supported by Checkpoint.

Checkpoint for Switch only runs on homebrew launcher. You're required to reboot your console after restoring a save through Checkpoint for Switch.

The first launch will take considerably longer than usual (usually 1-2 minutes depending on how many titles you have installed), due to the working directories being created - Checkpoint will be significatively faster upon launch from then on.

You can scroll between the title list with the DPAD/LR and target a title with A when the selector is on it. Now, you can use the DPAD or the touchscreen to select a target backup to restore/overwrite.

Troubleshooting
Checkpoint displays error codes when something weird happens or operations fail. If you have any issues, please ensure they haven't already been addressed, and report the error code and a summary of your operations to reproduce it.

Additionally, you can receive real-time support by joining PKSM's discord server.

Building
Checkpoint for 3DS relies on latest libctru, latest citro3d and latest citro2d.

Checkpoint for Switch relies on latest libnx.

Even though this is the result of independent research and work, Checkpoint for 3DS couldn't be possible without J-D-K's JKSM, which is an incredible piece of software that you should all be using. Best regards JK, hope you're fine.

I'm on 4.1 FW (NS) and checkpoint always shows it's 1969-12-31_23-59-59. Same with Edizon. Any clues why? Never connected to internet, the clock it's manual.

How can I restore a save of a cartridge game to its digital version? In Checkpoint they are two different titles (so they don't share the save backup)

I grabbed a WiiU save and converted it over to Switch. I believe it was saved on BOTW version 1.1. I'm able to create the Switch save files. I copy them to the SD Card and remove the archive flag with Hekate Tools. Boot into either Hekate or SX OS and use Checkpoint. Checkpoint sees the files and I'm able to restore one folder at a time (0 through 5). Every time I boot BOTW, it acts as though I'm just beginning. I get the full intro and then a single autosave at the beginning. Is this because I'm on BOTW version 1.5, or does that matter? Or am I doing something else wrong?

As stated in the Github page, both Zelda BOTW WiiU and Switch MUST have the same update version (https://github.com/JordanZeotni/BotW-Save-Manager)

Having an issue where I can’t restore my BOTW saves using checkpoint (all switch saves). It just hangs after pressing RB to restore.

I played botw when on firmware 3.0.2 with no update or dlc, backed up with checkpoint.

Today I updated to firmware 4.1.0 and installed BOTW and nsp updates and dlc. Now checkpoint won’t restore my original save.

Actually it won’t restore a new save made in the new version of the game either. Could it be because I haven’t left the shrine of resurrection yet?
