@ArviDroid no problem. It's a shame Tekken 3 doesn't work as it's my favourite fighting game. It seems compatiblity has improved with the most recent stable version with most other games.

BTW have you ever changed disc on an eboot version that has all discs combined, I.e. Final Fantasy VII?

I do the following:

Quick Menu > Disc Control > Disc Index
Then press right changes disc to 2
However, nothing happens

EDIT: believe I figured it out:
Quick Menu > Disc Control > Disc Cycle Tray Status (opens tray) > Disc Index (select disc) > Disc Cycle Tray Status (closes tray)

I did this immediately after loading the game so it'll be interesting to see if it works during a game when it asks you to swap disc. If that causes an issue then a workaround would be to restart the game and then do it (as it asks you to save before switching disc I believe)

Cheers

Yeah, the fps has become better for many games on later PCSX versions!
I've never tried changing disks, but I believe the latter method is correct.

Gex: Enter the Gecko [NTSC-U]

.BIN version
last CIA version of PCSX

Audio vsync disabled
Video vsync disabled
Dithering disabled
Frameskip 1
Maximum run speed: 2.0x

50-75 FPS

Sometimes you can even disable Frameskip and the game can still be playable.

VEREDICT: Playable

However, I have a question. With 2.0x Maximum run speed configuration you can get 75 FPS, so it can be annoying. In the other hand, with 1.0x you only can get 40-50 FPS.

Is there a way to limit the FPS up to 60 FPS?

If you put V-sync ON while at 2.0x you'll be limited to 60 fps in some cases. So try that!

I'm on Luma 9.0 and PCSX is crashing a lot on me. It seems like a volatile, utterly random thing. Does anybody have a clue about this?

Just to add - go careful with using this emulator. I've spent numerous hours on FF7 without any issues only for it to start crashing anywhere from initially loading to 30 minutes worth of play.

After the fifth time of it happening (it become so common even save states wouldn't have been feasible) I've decided to move back to PSP for PS1 emulation. I sold my PSP as I thought this would save having two handhelds but unfortunately I'm going to have to get one again.

I´ve only tested PS1 games up to this point and have never tried completing one so I have no experience with that! I have a question though: on some of the games you reviewed you had +60 fps, why? Couldn´t you just enable V-sync to get the fps below 60 fps?

I´ll add this to my previous reply; what menu driver are you using? The xmb UI always crashes on 3DS, so use rgui instead!

V-sync always made it go under 45 fps which felt sluggish.

I suppose this isn't bad for a game that doesn't lose much in case of a random crash, I.e. Tekken.

However, I was 10+ hours into FF7 with no major issues. Then bam kept on crashing and was using the most stable version.

That was enough for me to call it a day.

Faulty rom?
So would you say that it´s better to play at an overclocked speed, rather than going slower than normal then?

Nah it's an eboot I've used for years and completed a few times on PSP.

Personally, I'd rather play at 70-80 fps than 40. On FF7 it would always be higher outside of battle and then go down to around 60 fps during a battle which was fine. With vsync on both the battles and walking around became really sluggish.

Hi guys how did you make THPS2 to run ? I have tried it and it work at 27-30fps sloooowmotion.
First and foremost: are you using the latest stable release of PCSX? Also, the linked spreadsheet in the main post states what needs to be done to run THPS2 at a decent fps. Other than that; refer to the main post for how you can potentially get higher fps in-game.

Version: 1.7.3s
Notes: No music, sfx have minor issues, game plays perfectly

Game: Bust-a-Move 4
Compatibility: Green
Filetype: eboot.pdp
Region: US
BIOS not used
FPS: 45-55 (good for Bust-a-Move games)
Version: 1.7.3s
Notes: No music, sfx have minor issues, set framerate to 0 so it won't go too fast

Game: Bust-a-Move 99
Compatibility: Green

Game: Mortal Kombat 4
Compatibility: Green

Game: Mortal Kombat Trilogy
Compatibility: Green
Filetype: eboot.pdp
Region: US

Notes: No music, turn on vsync or game will run too fast, frameskip doesn't matter

Game: X-Men VS Street Fighter
Compatibility: Green
Filetype: eboot.pdp
Region: US
BIOS not used
FPS: 55-60

Notes: Set frameskip to 1 or you'll have flashing green bars on the top and bottom of the screen. There's lots of visual glitches during loading screens and after-battle text
