figured the problem. I am on 4.01 firmware and these need 5.XXX

Whats the better option, update to official 5.1 or use the trick method with sxpro?

Rajkosto's method...

Thanks for this. I just read through that and looks way way above my skill limit. I only just about managed to do the exfat update on lower firmware :) so based on this. Can i just go an do a firmware update and stick the sd card back in with SXPRO?

that was suppose to mean the Rajkosto's method... I just forgot the name initially :)

Why not just update normally, and boot into rcm right after so that the fuses don't get burnt.
would this work? Not heard of this.

Sorry, I should have mentioned why I think Rajkosto's method is the better option. Not an easier option, but better in general.

1. Its completely offline,no need to communicate with Nintendo servers.Since we dont know what info is sent back to them, better to be safe than sorry (imo)
2. Using this method lets you understand what is changing and for some part why its changing. In future, going back to an older FW (that was the point of not burning fuses right) might be easier, but lets say it doesnt get easier and Raj's method is the go to method, you are going to have to learn to do it anyway right?

I guess it is about ease of doing something at the end of the day though, and that guide is a bit intimidating.
You can practice it to some degree on a nand backup. so you can see what you doing before you actually make any changes

You can update via a cart if you want offline.
And if you make a nand dump, you can easily revert to an older fw in the future.

I think your right. Rajkisto's method is the way to go. Im nnot too bothered about downgrading etc. Pretty happy with SXO but thought id try and prolong in case something in future. Will the SXPRO work as per normal after updating to 5.1 using this method?

The cart is a good point.forgot about that one.
Alrighty then, pretty much moots my points if you do it that way.
Guess the main thing is to have a jig in and ready before the official update reboots the console

The problem here, you MUST first get the physical game, for a pirate like us we don't deal with physical games.

maybe updating via nsp will fix the problem.
They don't have updates because you need the latest update to access eshop :)

Or you mean manual system nsp installations, part by part? Yeah maybe possible, it was somewhat doable on 3ds.

that what i meant, if you look to the update folder inside the .XCI game, you will see nsp files, maybe when someone make installer that install every nsp file in a folder, or someone can pack them all in 1 nsp file.

wait a minute, i just got an idea, can we take the update folder for donkey kong country for example which they are for 4.1, and then take the files from octopath which are they for 5.0.2 then put them in the donkey kong country .xci file?

they wouldn't get installed anyway because sx os doesn't load the game updates, you can't update using xci i think.
but you could just use devmenu (whatever it is called) to install the nsps... it should work fine i guess. :)
as long as you have a nand backup, nothing to lose.
