From time to time I see threads where important information is not on page 1 but in a later post somewhere between a lot of pages.

So I have my suggestions here:
- Give the OP the possibility to select posts that should be shown after the first post but "spoiler"-like and with red border or something so that they don't take much space and that they distinct to the normal post order.
- ^this for mods
- Show posts after the OP that got many likes/feeback.

Something very similar to this (Featured Posts if i remember right) was once implemented but was removed because the add-on caused the site to become really slow and unresponsive. It also gave people a counter on their profile so people were more inclined to rig it.

Ok. I have seen something similar (helpful posts are entirely decided by the number of likes; may not be the best solution tho) on other sides where it works really well (from my view as a regular visitor), but I guess it's not only how someone would implement that (I think the unresponsiveness could be prevented) but also how the community is itself. Sad that it didn't work on gbatemp, but I hope you can find some alternative that may work for gbatemp in the future.

We had an addon for this a while back but there were a few problems with this feature. Not only did it break some vital stuff on the forums, it opened the door for trolling.
I actually remember this feature and equally remember no one really using it.
@OP It's an interesting idea, but something I feel like can be accomplished by simply quoting the post or linking the post in the OP.

Just before I suggested this idea I read a thread about someone complaining about a shop site. The shop owner answered later (& got many likes) and it turned out that the OP was just a very impatient costumer.
Obviously the OP is not going to quote the response.
Also the quoting thing doesn't work that well if the OP is not active anymore or if he doesn't notice good information provided by others.
Well, theorethically mods could do the job here and add information to the OP, but I don't think that they would do this for the first case I described. Maybe if it's a thread about a popular tool and the OP is not active anymore but I guess it's more likely in that case that someone else will fork the tool and will get permissions to edit the OP or will create a new topic.

Actually the staff have updated threads before for inactive users, I have an example right here
https://gbatemp.net/threads/acekard-skin-editor.89654/
If someone feels as though a post is important enough to be added to the OP, they can report it to the staff to see if the staff agrees. The issue with your suggest is really how would one determine the best post to pin? Joke posts tend to get massive amounts of likes compared to helpful posts and that's most likely because people like a good a joke.
Still this system had already existed in the past and just wasn't well used. Most active users just edited their OP with the new information instead of making featured posts. Most of the time when something new happens and the original OP is inactive, users just made a new thread. Featured posts simply didn't work when we had it.

Back when Featured Posts was a thing, I remember someone making a thread, then pinning all of his own posts, increasing his counter in the process. The feature did not work well at all.
