Then I should be banned right now. But I'm not.
Well maybe eventually you will but everybody that has been banned so far, even the people not using layered or sxos and being offline and on lower firmware are all getting banned while users having the webkit exploit haven't been banned so far. Not saying I am correct since I can't proof it but everytime I see a status like this, I can't stop thinking it is booting something through RCM that is causing the bans

My theory is booting anything which touches the Switches Horizon OS probably leaves some traces in the logs which Nintendo can pickup on. Booting something like Lakka or Linux is probably fine as your leaving your Nand totally out of that, so as far as Horizon knows it never happened.

In the future i suspect booting an Emunand which never goes online will also be totally fine.

We will just have to wait and see and what's proved in the next couple of months.

Hey all.

I recently found out that my Switch was banned , and i really dont know how i did get banned.

Heres what i did pretty mutch :

Everytime i was logging in CFW/romFS mode , i turned on Airplane mode (obviously) , when i was done playing around with theses tools i wiped the logs with the Clear Logs option in the hekate bootloader , and returned to the OFW.

I always did that and i never got banned. Also no , i never used online while playing around with the CFW/romFS mode as it would be a instant ban. I do recal , however , used SX OS twice , with airplane mode on , never used online , i just used it for shits and giggles. Then clearing logs etc. Yet , here i am banned , and i dont really know why. I'll try to contact Nintendo Support later , but im sure its gonna be a negative awnser by the looks of it.

Is it becose of the burned fuses or something ? If anyone can clear me on this issue/help me please do so ! I know you cannot unban a switch as of YET.

Anyways , Thanks again !

(ps : also yes i use my legit carts to play online)
Having blank logs all the time is suspicious in itself. That doesn't happen normally.

I think maybe the log clearer should add a mode to add dummy logs. If someone was online a few months ago, with a few games played in his log, then comes back with absolutely nothing in his log, not even a system restore, it is pretty suspicious.
Even Dummy logs are dumb af.
Nintendo gets all the logs, they can clearly see if somethings in the wrong order or deleted, right now clearing logs is kind of the biggest ban reason, together with LayeredFS

What webkit exploit? Do you mean the one for 3.0.0? I'm a bit out of the loop, but how can people boot into SX OS with a webkit exploit and not RCM?
They can't but can use homebrew such as emulators and so forth. Kernel will be released when atmosphere releases wich uses the webkit exploit to load up the kernel exploit. But at the moment it is just regular homebrew

Both LayeredFS and SXOS backup loader touches the FS sysmodule. So far that is the greatest suspect.

So,

I used LayeredFS once, it crashed (lol) and then I cleared the logs. Heard that it wasn't the best idea but my Switch's been in Flight Mode for a few months. So I should be safe...I think.

What should I do now? Restore my backup I made before using LayeredFS? Or wait for Atmosphere with telemetry patches? Or both?

The short answer is no one knows what Nintendo can see, but restoring a backup should work like a charm if you were in flight mode prior to grabbing the NAND backup. The console should turn on, sync it's time (which likely happens after a power-on event anyway) and won't know any different.

Like I have been telling everybody. RCM is the cause, evidence keeps stacking up as none using the webkit exploit have been banned and only RCM users
Okay, stop with that. Please. It's 110% speculation, and just fuels the proverbial fire.

You MIGHT (Keyword here) have some validity in this thought. However, the shared suspect is LayeredFS.

Im using latest hekate + only homebrews, havent tried layeredFS or sx os once and not going to until things are somewhat clear. Still not banned. Also no autoRCM or modded jigs and other type of stuff(soldering. modding with wires еtс.) Cleared logs twice. At this point i have no idea about the reasons behind bans since there are plenty of ppl who are not banned (yet?) sitting on sx os and playing online just fine, and at the same time there are ppl who are banned only for homebrews with no use of sx os or layeredFS whats so ever (means i can be banned too). Maybe modding to go into rcm is a thing? Like a permanent soldering of pins... idk

I use CFW for online play all the time, haven't gotten banned. I use SwitchBlade with AutoRCM though, and nx-dreport is added to my switchblade.ini file. So every time I boot my Switch, it clears the log files.

I think there's two factors at play here.

1) If your Switch has been online with at least 1 error report in the past, and then afterwards it connects with no error reports, Nintendo knows something is up, and bans you.
2) You really shouldn't use any of the Hekate builds floating around that have LayeredFS support. SciresM made a post on Discord about the LayeredFS builds, I wish he had announced it on Twitter so more people would know:

Then you should know that he also said that cleaning logs are dangerous as well.

There's also a layer of salt and trolls to account for too. Users claiming they are banned for only HBL stuff will really need a microscope to their asses because I don't believe all the claims I'm seeing as of late. Not that I discredit them but there's a lot of "I'm banned!!" going around without proof right now. And even so, we don't know what people are really doing other than what they tell us.

"Don't use stuff until it's done"... What a great mantra to live by. :v

Yes, he did, but every time I've gotten an error message, I've had to reboot my Switch, which I'm doing with AutoRCM and Switchblade set up to clear the logs every time. So far I haven't been banned.

What are the alternatives? If homebrew causes errors and ends up sending them to Nintendo, chances are I'll be banned. If my Switch reports 1 error to Nintendo, then later reports none, I'm pretty sure I'll be banned. Deleting all errors every boot, at least for me, appears to be the safest option.

The only "safer" alternative would be constantly making and restoring NAND backups every time I wanted to use homebrew, and that's not happening.

Safest right now is probably not to use homebrew at all, especially not the piracy stuff.
