Hacking Question Will updating with a cart to 4.1.0 using SX OS 1.2 burn any fuses and are there any drawbacks?

In the changelogs they say that SX OS 1.2 should not burn any fuses anymore when you have updated the unofficial rajkosto way (because you want to preserve fuses).
Rajkosto's guide says updating from a firmware lower than 4.x to firmware 4.x or higher it will allow you to play cartridge games on your updated firmware version, but whenever you decide to go back and downgrade back to your old firmware lower than 4.x, you cannot use cartridge games with that lower firmware version.

Ok so lets say I boot SX OS then pop in Kirby Star Allies and update to 4.1.0 my fuses will be fine but what if I boot normally with no CFW at all wouldn't that mean the fuses will then get burnt?

I'm actually curious about this - can we really update the Nintendo OS from within SX OS with no fuses burnt, without going through all the steps laid out in Rajkosto's guide?

We know that version 1.0 of SX OS, upon boot, was not bypassing the fuse check, which resulted in the fuses being burnt up to whichever version of the Nintendo OS currently running (and ruining any attempt to preserve the fuses by following Rajkosto's guide). My understanding was that in versions 1.1 and 1.2, the fuse check is bypassed upon booting, but I would be surprised if it actually prevented the burning of the fuses normally taking place during the update itself.

I'd be glad to be wrong about that, but I think you still need to go through the guide if you want to preserve your fuses.

If you update in SX OS your fuses are burnt. Its like inserting Kirby in OFW and then update from cart.

You have to update the unofficial rajkosto way to not burn fuses.
Then SX OS wont burn them if you start your console.

I tried to update to 4.1 with a cart, but seems like sx os can't "mount" games that don't match actual fw, so you can't even update from the dump, but maybe it's the game i sued which didn't have any update in the cart(owlboy)

If you are on under 4.x right now you won't be able to use a cartridge on lower firmware anymore, no matter if you ''fake update" or not.

He means: If you are on under 4.x right now you won't be able to use a cartridge on lower console-firmware anymore (the result from downgrading), no matter if you ''fake update" or not.

Since you are not able to mount a 4.X cart in a system lower than 4.X. You are not able to update.
Still if you are updating your system with card either with SX or OFW your fuses will be burned.

There is no reason to stay on a low Firmware, just update to the newest you can still use SX OS afterwards.

because there may be a coldboot hack for low fws, that is why some people want to keep their fuses on a low fw so they can restore a nand backup of a low fw
it's just keeping an option open :)

From your point of view. But in generaly there are reasons to stay.

Well you are right Cooldboot Hax is one reason, but it also depends if someone cares about online or not.
