How to correctly set up Skyrim SE mods for the Nintendo Switch:
Notes:
- I will not go into detail as to how to set up LayeredFS
- Skyrim modding can only work on firmware version 5.0.0+
- textures and audio do not work but scripts are working
- you may only have a maximum of 10 mods (you may use more by merging mods)
- remove "quotes" from all quoted words and created directories should be named EXACTLY as spelled
- Peach is not in another castle, but in another plane of Oblivion inaccessible by pipes
0. Set up LayeredFS
1. Creating Directories
- create "titles" folder at SD:/atmosphere/ if it does not already exist
- create "01000A10041EA000" folder at SD:/atmosphere/titles/ as this is Skyrim's TITLEID
- place "romfs" folder at SD:/atmosphere/titles/01000A10041EA000/
- okay, you're all set!
2. 'Installing' Mods
- all mod files in formats: .esm, .esp, and .bsa, as well as other loose files all go inside the Data folder
- open Skyrim.ini - "sTestFileX=" is your load order where your .esm and .esp files go, you can add more by placing it's file name and extension after it (eg. sTestFileX=example.esp)
- "sResourceArchiveList=" is where all of your .bsa files go, you can add more by placing a comma and it's file name followed by it's extension after other .bsa files (eg. sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim.bsa, example.bsa)
- save Skyrim.ini and you're good to go!
3. Launching Skyrim
- use whatever payload you prefer that that will allow you to boot with LayeredFS enabled (I use CTCaer and I am given the "RomFS" boot option)
- launch Skyrim and create a new save or load an old one
- you will receive a message that says that achievements are disabled because mods are active, this is perfect because it means that you did everything correctly and mods are now working!
- enter the game and enjoy Skyrim modding!
