I belive TX provided an update to the OS enabling fuse bypass, i don´t know how it works though.
Yeah, 1.2 was recently released. Information is moving too fast in the Switch scene.
What does fuse bypassing actually do?
If the number of fuses burnt is less than the expected number based on your firmware, the Switch will not turn on. Bypassing this allows it to turn on regardless of how many fuses are burnt but must be implemented in a payload.

Thanks... now how can I update my firmware to the latest but still preserve my 3.0?

Will my Zelda saves stay intact if I hack my virgin Switch? I can still play them fine right?
Depends on what type of hack you are doing. Unless you're modifying the save files directly, they should be fine. If you are going to touch the save files, be aware that Zelda saves all of "quicksaves" and the regular save together. To tell them apart, you look at the picture in the save folder.

Okay cool. Yeah no modifying, I just don't want to lose progress.

Edit: Err, oh yeah, as for hacks I'm just talking homebrew and SX OS.

Just google for the console name + backup file's extension, like "nintendo switch xci" for example

Is there any possible way you can get banned for backing up save data?
Possibly because there is at least one user who was banned for save editing which is a step up from save dumping.

Hey I started backing up my NAND like 30 minutes ago and it’s 5%, is that normal?
It will depend on your SD card.

Inside your Switch are a set of fuses. Every few system updates or so, Nintendo decides to burn a fuse. This decision is random and is not correlated to pre-determined system updates. It is implemented to prevent downgrading.

Do i have to plug the cable directly to the computer in order to run the payload?
Yes because the Switch lacks wireless capabilities in RCM. Either your computer or any corresponding device that can send payloads.

Hi! My Switch is on 5.1.0. What can I use to jailbreak my Switch other than SX pro? I just want to back up my saves and I'm tired of waiting for Atmosphere's release.
Thank you!

I use homebrew app: Checkpoint to back up my saves... you can also use EdiZon

As for how to jailbreak? well im sure you can find that in the 'Tutorial' section but the summary is
  • Use a Jig (3D printed, Paperclip, etc) to go into Recovery Mode (RCM)
  • Setup your SD Card with necessary file + Checkpoint or EdiZon for back up saving
  • Connect your switch to PC/Android/whatever and upload "payload"
  • Load Custom Firmware (CFW), go to Album and select your homebrew app to back up your saves

Thanks, I've looked up about this already but what made me ask the question is whether 5.1.0 is supported by Checkpoint. All the ones I've found are either for the 4.xx firmware or for 5.0.2.

Oh.. my bad.. i just updated my FW to 5.1 last night so did not test Checkpoint

Can someone confirm if EdiZon will work in FW 5.1?

@tomGER updated to the latest SD Files and mentioned this is for 5.X and includes EdiZon

5.1 supports both Checkpoint and EdiZon - So feel free to use what you want and just follow this:
