What are you talking about? It will say "Insert game" in OFW if you try to click on it when it isn't mounted in CFW. And even if he could update in OFW there's countless people reporting bans that only updated back up games since getting SX OS, so clearly he's in airplane mode to avoid that like a lot of us.

You're basically screwed unless you want to take (an even greater) risk of getting the online ban. I wouldn't do it. Maybe there's a way for .XCI releases in the future to not require the update?

im 100% sure there will be a freeshop in the near future and youll find all the updates you could ever want there.

FINALLY someone who understands what I was saying, even though I tried to point it out like 4-5 times lol.

You caused the confusion by titling the thread "...but I'm on the latest OS", implying you thought it was related to the OS you were using, either firmware of the console or SX OS, not the game update

Ok let me try and break it down, i can not start the game without updating and I'm using SX OS, meaning i can't go online. There is no way to skip the update and start it anyway. I have never seen a game that doesn't let you start up the game without updating unless it is because your system version is too old.

I know this is not a system update!

Maybe use the devmenu? I've seen an option to reset game required version or smt like that.

I had the same issue with Smash Bros 4 on the 3DS... I popped it into my 3DS (offline) in the car, and couldn't even play it because the full game isn't on the cart... It's a complete bullshit business practice that's still happening today.

Guys update backups only in ofw. Click pluse button and than download update on internet
Uhh NO? Updating backups is literally asking to get banned. Do not update back ups if you care about that. I have 14 backups on my SD card and majority of them ask for an update but who cares? Just click "start software" instead.

Yes, but there are ones with mandatory updates.
So, here's how this happens.

Example A.
The Legend of Zelda was in this switch long before I installed SX OS on it, and was online. I haven't used it in this Switch for months now, and recently turned off all wifi on it and installed SX OS on it.
Backed up the Cartridge and now it's asking for a mandatory update which the window comes up with the dialogue (paraphrasing):

[This title needs an update:]
Cancel | Update

Example B.
You have dumped a title which your Switch Unit has never used or played online before, and is asking for an update:

[This title has an update:]
Start software without update
Cancel | Update

There are the problems we are having in some sort of miscommunication, above.

So much FUD. Safely, carefully updating games while in OFW and precautions taken is not proven to get you banned despite the few unverifiable claims that that's all they did. Sure, if you want 100% protection from being banned then never turn wifi on for whatever reason, ever. They can't ban you from anything if you ban yourself first. It's misleading to deal in absolutes when talking about what does/doesn't get you banned.
