Hacking USB MicroSD adapter fell apart - Woo-hoo

The USB MicroSD adapter that came with my M3 Simply finally fell apart, simply put. Not really broken, but the inside slipped out of the case as if no adhesive was holding it in at all. I've always wanted to know what the inside of a USB drive looked like.

It still works in my PC, but when I tug on it, the case slides off, leaving the guts plugged into my USB port.

I still have a Sandisk 12-in-1 reader, but taking the MicroSD out of the SD adapter is a *****.

Is there some safe adhesive I can put on the USB drive?

You could always put tape on the outside. Of course it probably won't look as nice.

At least the USB reader that came with your M3 works. Plugged mine in and it fried immediately. Lucky for me, I got a free Kingston one with my 2GB microSD.

The USB adapter does get extremely hot if I leave it in the USB port. That's probably why it came apart.

no it doesnt. mine is on the usb since day one till today. never got "hot" or what ever.

It depends. The adapter is different between different shipments. Some people have one that feels as if it's on fire - others have one that doesn't heat up. It's a very cheap device. You can't definitely say no it doesn't get hot, because some people have one that does. I have seen multiple M3 packages with microSD adapters - some have broken within a few uses, some have overheated and fallen apart, and others have not displayed a single problem whatsoever.

You should be able to disassemble the casing and use a drop of superglue/epoxy to seat everything properly again. Just be careful not to cover that little circuit board with anything - as I said, it's cheap, cheap, cheap.

Why ruin your valuable card (or port) with a piece of crap? A multi card reader is very inexpensive. You own a mobilphone, digital camera and a NDS - so a multi card reader is more reliable and obviously your first choice.
