Heyo! Is there a way to extract save files for games that we loaded with LayeredFS? I don't want to lose my MHXX progress tbh owo

Are you sure? I think Checkpoint will just export the Donor game savefile.
Like if I load MHXX with PSO2, wouldn't Checkpoint dump PSO2 savefile?
That's a real pickle right there.. I always thought the donor games would have their save files overwritten by the game you're trying to run, but I must be wrong on that

Wondering this too, I've been making progress on mario+rabbids and DKC:TF and it would suck to lose my saves if I want to move to another method of backup loading in the near future.

from what I've understood the layered game save sin the same space as the "donor" game. so as long as the filenames don't collide you have all saves in the donor games save folder. extract it with checkpoint then you'll have to manually seperate them.... figuring out which files belong to which games save will be your own fun :)

I don't pirate so not 100% on this tho.

You can export it with Checkpoint, I did it to my Skyrim donor with MHXX injected and the saves for both games are in there. MHXX saves itself as a file named "system" for some reason. You can even use a save editor and restore it!

Just to be clear, I used Fortnite as a donor for Bayonetta, I never launched Fortnite normally, so there isn't a real Fortnite save. If I just moved the files I backed up using Checkpoint from the Fortnite folder to a Bayonetta folder, that is actually a Bayonetta save, and it should work with the Bayonetta game with TX?

You might need to rename the save file to whatever Bayonetta names it's saves. In my experience LayeredFS saves are named "system" with no extension. Do this, make a back up of Fortnite save with Checkpoint. Start Bayonetta and create a save, make a backup of that with Checkpoint. Copy & Paste the save file from the Fortnite backup to Bayonetta backup and rename the file to the name of the file in that folder (delete the old one).

I tried a couple of things with no success.
I was playing Dragon Quest Builders injected in Fallout Shelter (I never launched Fallout Shelter before, I just used it as a donor).
With Checkpoint I exported the Fallout Shelter savegame to the SD.
After that, I installed SX OS from Team-Xecuter, installed DQBuilders and played until I saved the game.
I exported that savegame with Checkpoint too.
Then on my computer, I overwrite the DQBuilder (SX OS) savegame with the Fallout Shelter (LayeredFS) savegame.
But the Nintendo Switch still shows the new savegame (SX OS) and not the old one (Layered).

After reading some comments above, should I export a "SYSTEM" savegame?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor English from a poor Spanish guy ;-)

Yeah! It works!

I just did these steps:

Game: Dragon Quest Builders
Donor: Fallout Shelter

- Launch the game in SX OS to create a savegame.
- Launch Checkpoint
- Export the Donor savegame (with name "Donor" for example).
- Export the created savegame from the other game (with name "target" for example)
- Take the SD Card and go to the Checkpoint save path folder
- You will see some folders with names like "0x010043500A17A000 Fallout Shelter" or "0x010008900705C000 DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS"
- Just copy the name of the folder with the "target game", delete it and rename the donor folder with that name.
(to be clear, for me was: copy the folder name of Dragon Quest Builder, delete that folder and rename the Fallout Shelter folder with the DQBuilder one)
- Then overwrite that path in the SD Card.
- Launch Checkpoint again and in the "target name" you should see the save "Donor" if you named it like that, restore the backup and you are done!

Happy to keep my saves!

I tried to do the same with mario tennis aces in layeredFS, but when i backup the data on the fortnite donor, I only have save.dat and gameusersettings.ini.
It seems as there is no system(without extension) file, that the mario tennis aces save is not dumped by Checkpoint. I even tried to delete fortnite saves (through console settings) to then restore the save.dat file previsously dumped to see if it containes mùario aces save... and... nothing
Maybe because it is a cart2 game?
