Really? "Backups" are all over the place here.
Anyhow, no, a save editor probably won't do the trick - Octo Expansion is DLC content, which'd require you to buy said DLC. At the moment, it doesn't seem anyone's figured out a DLC loader or anything similar.

You need an old version of SplatHex its in the desc.
Oh yeah in the desc the Video was moved to Google Drive so the link is in the desc. for that too.

Pretty sure Nintendo will be able to detect illegal use of the Octoling. Like using flags to determine if the user actually bought the DLC and have completed the requirements to use the Octoling in multiplayer.

you can't. all of the octo expansion files (apart from some text) are loaded from the 2 gb dlc. however you can load the dlc through layeredfs (i did post a poc video somewhere on gbatemp)
