Can you try something for me... do you have a usb thumbstick big enough for one pkg? I think the smallest pkgs I've seen have been around the 16gb mark. Or a small external hdd. I want you to totally format that stick or drive and put nothing more on it than what is required. pkg on root, PS4 folder and app2usb.ini in PS4 folder. I notice that your drive has a lot of other stuff on and whilst app2usb shouldn't be using anything else, I just want to rule out any complications. If it works, then you'd just have to uninstall which ever game by app management and then ftp to remove the installation folder if it's still there. Don't place the app2usb.ini on the root of the thumbdrive or hdd, just keep it in [PS4]. Your app2usb.ini is fine, but you desperately need to rebuild your PS4 database.

As for transferring everything from your 2TB hard drive, I'm not 100% clear on what you mean. Rebuilding the database should only clear it up, getting rid of any bloat and duplication that's occurring. Can you also clear something up for me, you mentioned something about your hard drive and usb port 1. Is it attached to usb port 0? (the right hand port)?? I think the newer version of app2usb checks both, but mine is in usb 0. As for the duplicated folders app2usb creates with nothing in, this happened to me when my database was fucked up from app2usb not working - I'd been using the 4.55 version before stumbling across KiiWii's.

Final thing - where are you finding your CUSA codes? Are they 100% correct?

Anyway, try what I've mentioned above in this order. 1) Rebuild database 2) FTP into internal install folder and check that whichever pkg you're about to install doesn't have a folder there before you continue. 3) Get a small empty drive (just for testing) and place the pkg on it, [PS4 folder] and app2usb.ini folder (edited to include the pkg file), place it in right hand usb slot. 4) Install to internal. 5) Check that internal install works by loading game. 6) Exit out and run app2usb.

IF the above is still the same, then at this point it has to be 1 of 2 things, a mismatch in CUSA IDs or the payload you're running, in which case I would swap to strictly KiiWii's.

Let me know the result.

good news everyone!.jpg

It Worked!!!

I started with a 32 GB Flash/Thumb/Stick Drive, reformatted it to ExFat, made a single folder named [PS4] with the correct app2USB.ini file (with the CUSA of the pkg at the bottom) and the FULL TITLE ID.pkg on the root.

I then rebuilt the PS4 database, and THEN did a FULL initialization of my PS4 (Because I received a Kernel Panic *twice* when payloading Mira+HEN after I rebuilt the Database) I then, in immediate Succession, Payloaded Disable Updates > Mira+HEN > Checked the game to make sure it worked > Ran Original > Opened Netcat and injected the app2USB.Bin from Kiiwii > and waited

It DIDN'T download the game!! It Said SKIPPING! It Actually said SKIPPING and LINKING!! I am Amazed right now!! It finished and checked the game, expecting to get an error, but it ran just fine! I unmounted the USB and I got the error again, then I plugged it back in and the game worked again!!! Its Like a Miracle!! Seriously haha, you have no idea how stoked I am right now, I have spent multiple 8 hour days trying to make this work!

GunzOfNavarone How can I possibly repay you for your unending support an kindness, I simply can't thank you enough! Please let me know if there is anything I can do, I certainly would not be here without your help.

Kiiwii I gotta thank you too, it was your app2USB.bin that I used that pushed it to the limit and got it working in the end. Thank you for your work and support of not only the larger community but progress as a whole!

Much Love and respect to you both. I will definitely be reformatting the 2TB EX-HDD I have and trying this method again. If it doesn't work It might be because the EX-HDD requires and external power source (It plugs into the wall) so ill try it with a regular HDD if it has a problem. Either way ill report back with my findings!

Great news!!! Well done and you're more than welcome, it's nice to hear such gratitude. As for repaying me, your words alone have done that. I'm just happy I could help. This is a great site and I've learned a lot over the years from various things I've read so if I can help someone back (for a change) then I'll do what I can. You must be made up! - I felt elated when I first got it working as I'd had to figure a lot of it out on my own because the only tutorials I could find were for the 4.55 app2usb version.

Take it easy buddy!

After SOOOOO much research I have come to a complete conclusion! Its because I base all of my work from a MAC! I have discovered that when formatting on the MAC side Apple creates a hidden partition on the drive, to which is a big no go for the PS4! The PS4 will not accept any HDD with more than a single partition! So simple yet it took me weeks and countless hours of trial and error! I hope who ever reads this, and has a MAC will not have to do what I have!

To make sure of that follow these next instructions!

1. Back up any files you have put onto the problem HDD (The one I ended up using was a 6TB Seagate!)
[If you read above and found I fixed it, I was using 2TB Toshiba, of which apple doe not create a partition on because it formats as MBR (Master Boot Record) Exfat instead of GPT (Guide Partition Map) Exfat if the HDD is 2TB or less!!)
*as a side note if your on a MAC and your HDD is 2TB or less just select the MBR Scheme when formatting and you should be all good!

2. Get on windows! I use Parallels.

3. push Command+R to open the "RUN" > Type: diskmgmt.msc

4. Locate your disk and notice that its in 2 partitions, remember the disk number.

5. Commad+R again and type: cmd

6. Now that the command Terminal is open Type in the following hitting enter for every new line:

diskpart

list disk

select disk #
(Replace # with disk number of your drive)

clean
(make sure you chose the correct disk number as "clean" will completely erase the drive)

exit

Now close out the terminal and hit Command+R again, typing in diskmgmt.msc. the HD will be there but will say unallocated/Unknown/Not Initialized so right click on the disk and click on Initialize Disk. then all you need to do is reformat using windows as Exfat and your golden!

Good Luck MAC Fellows!!
