Neither, every Smash game so far has been Peer 2 Peer, which can be frustrating if the other person's connection is crappy. Hopefully this version will have a dedicated server.
1v1 is going to be crappy if the other person's connection sucks either way, dedicated server or no. I believe most fighting games use p2p.
Nothing complicated. But I think that, if they were going to show a game in action to the public, maybe putting there at least one skilled player could be a good idea. This way all of us consumers could see the engine and fluidness of such game. Just a thought. No need to further analyze it. Just my two cents.

Oh and, by the way, was I the only one expecting the rumor of a CastleVania character to be true??? Damn. :(
They did get skilled players to show the game off, that's what the invitational tournament was for.

I've played many fighting games where it just runs flawlessly. Lag is fine, input lag is not.

That's probably because those games have good netcode, not because of dedicated servers. I'd like Nintendo to step their online game up as much as anyone else, but asking for 1v1 dedicated servers isn't the way to go.

Not really asking for a dedicated 1 vs 1 server, just a less shitty experience.
Smash Wii U sucked online even if you and the other person were pretty close.
