Gaming What happens when you run a 5.50 game on a 5.05 console?

I know that detroit become human requires 5.50, but what happens if you try to run it on a lower firmware? Will it (or other games) automatically upgrade your console or will you get a prompt before installing it?
I assume they bundle the system firmware with all games that require a higher firmware to run? I have a few games I have no idea what firmware they require and Google doesn't tell me either, so just wondering if it's considered safe to give it a try or if I risk upgrading my console doing that.

You will get a prompt to update.

It won't work, but it should only prompt, not auto update

Thanks for the info. It's obvious they won't, but it's not always easy to figure out that firmware games require. Just knowing it will prompt you tells me it's safe to just give it a try...

Just be sure to have an update blocker installed to be super safe.

Good tip, I use your awesome AiO package on a ZSun and will keep it in mind. So running HEN first, then the update blocker and finally the game should be proper procedure?

Just the update blocker will install the block. only needs to be run once ever to be blocked until you unblock.

Dont worry. They have a 5.50-5.55 fully exploit in private. One day they will.. Just like 4.05-5.05.

they released 5.05 exploit because it got patched in official 5.50 and the exploit is useless. same thing will happen with the private 5.50 exploit that they have now. they wont release it unless sony patches it. i hope sony patches it soon mine is on 5.50

i have a question. if the 5.50 is exploited , are these game uploads going to work on that or we need new uploads that are dumped from a console running 5.50?

Yeah, I already know that. They wont release 5.50-5.55 fully exploitable yet until Sony release a new firmware first.

Anyway, I have a 5.05 and 4.05-4.55 games are playable just fine on 5.05 exploitable PS4 without a problem.

@jetuaime81 dumps from 1.76 consoles also still work on 4.05-5.05 fine as long as they’re fake pkgd properly.

it will work if you edit the param.sfo but the problem is we have no way to dump 5.50 games! Otherwise we could make them work

The 5.5x is exploited in private for about 1 year now and still no public exploit til now. I don't think they will release it in a few time... 5.05 exploit becomes old fashioned as the games concerned belong to an old period.

LOL.. They aren't release it at all. They will but not anytime soon. None. Buy your games or just wait for months, or even years. I know they will release it when PS5 is release, I believe.

I also do think they will release it when PS5 is released. Just same thing happened with PS3, it was fully exploited when PS4 was at the top of his sales.

I guess it depends on what you mean fully exploited. Sony couldn't prevent CFW until by the end of 2012 (they had managed to stop people hacking newer firmware for about a year). Free Cobra came a little later, because they couldn't make money out of it anymore.

It's difficult to say how long the PS4 will last, if PS5 are essentially just PS4 PRO+. The exploits may even be helpful for hacking the PS5 if Sony just lift the OS.

I had different experience, i took my moms regular ps4 because she hasnt used it since bought and it was in low firmware. So i updated to 5.05 and the first game i tried was god of war. Whe. God of war came out u had to be on firmware 5.50 to get it on psn
