The shield portable had an ~8000mah battery, that's twice the switch's capacity.
The X1 is more efficient than tegra 4, the X1 portable prototypes have similar battery life than the original Tegra 4 one.

The only retail X1 shield (ATV) is a set top box so it never had to worry about battery.

Hmm, been trying to spoof the Play Store as a Shield TV, with location spoofing in China and can't find the app, is it on the Play Store or do they have it on a proprietary app for Shield TV for GC/Wii games? Alternatively would be nice if OP could provide it, but I guess that's not allowed on here :/

ISTR that its on a chinese NON-Play store... What would be good would be if the OP could share the APK somehow... or at least cross post this in an Android forum somewhere as this is only getting Switch attention not Android attention and maybe the Android devs could get it working for ALL Shield TVs (regardless of location etc) ?>?

I just want the apk to look inside, but sure if OP is able to post it I see no reason why it would not work on other Sheild TV devices, some games like Half life even work on non Nvidia devices.

The newer lightspeed ports rely on some nvidia framework stuff baked in the system rom.
Even if you could hack the license check (or spoof system properties) you need that framework stuf to get the games working.

Isn't that the idea of giving the APK to some clever Dev at XDA then?

Do you know if it uses any more than the portal and half life ports? You can run those with root and gltools.

Someone's probably mentioned this, but don't forget that the shield is running Android, and the Switch runs a custom OS that is much better for gaming. And it's already running on a Linux build of Dolphin not specifically made for Switch, so with some Nintendo magic the Switch will run any Gamecube title fullspeed.

Only concern I have is heat and battery life, emulators require a lot from the CPU.

I'm pretty sure most of Android's overhead is because almost no GPU drivers properly implement more complicated instructions. Especially in this case, as emulators can't use too many cores, so background processes are just on another core.

They suspect that since Switch doesn't use Android, less overhead and better performance. Here's hoping something will be seen at E3.
Then again from the benchmarks I have seen dolphin android runs better than dolphin linux on the switch.

Some people on Switch's lakka thread claimed that when using linux, the switch runs at default X1 clockspeed, same as the shield TV.
It does, until it doesn't. Even on the Shield ATV, if things gets hot there is throttling, it seems to only happen when both GPU and CPU are heavily loaded at the same time

For those that keep PMing asking for files:

This one will be a doozy to crack because each ROM is custom locked to the hardware, the game can only be played with online connectivity as it calls back to nvidia every hour and then the inputs are separately sandboxed via a combo of the GPU and an efused serial number.

Nintendo ain’t giving away a Wii emulation wrapper that easy...

Can someone give me the actual specs Switch vs X1 Shield? (clock speed of CPU and GPU)
Nvidia shield TV runs at 1.9 Ghz with 3 GB of ram

Switch runs underclock depends on docked or undocked mode I don’t know what exactly the clock speed is. with 4 GB of ram. However when you running lakka (is based on linux os) it comes back to 1.9 Ghz

The conclusion is:

Both shield tv and switch are sharing the same specs. Especially when you running it on lakka.
This all I know.
