If it’s your only switch, sure.
I imagine there are literally 0 people out there sitting on a 1.0 who don’t have a backup switch for actual usage.
Best always to buy 2 day one consoles and lock one away in a cupboard for as long as it takes.
Just turn it on once to make sure it works.
No worries either way then.

I got a 1.0.0 a few months ago and own no games for it

edit: Having a fully modded wii u i'm set for emulators at the moment and no switch games that stand out so im fine

I dont see a point in buying used 1.0.0 devices..just because they are 1.0.0 ?

Im with you on this one, I would sell a 1.0 for $$ more than likely. Its like how people previously thought 3.0 would be a gold mine, you just don't know what will happen. The reality is that 1.0 has a possibility of having true coldboot a few years down the track, its no guarantee as some people are taking it. Anything above 1.0 and that probability becomes much much smaller.
So your basically keeping a console for the possibility of having a true coldboot on a mobile device that is intended to be kept in sleep mode 95% of the time anyway. If your constantly powering off your switch every day(which is actually worse for the battery), then its a benefit.
