I always buy big releases, except for Bayonetta 1&2 and indie titles I buy from the eShop.
Think i have 10 or so physical games now.

I usually buy physical as I'm aware with Nintendo games at least, that they hold their value over time, so if I want to sell any of my games years from now, then I can still get most of my money back on the investment.

Splatoon 2
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Mario Odyssey
Bayonetta 2
Doom
Mariokart 8
Arms
The Binding of Issac: Afterbirth+
Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild
Skyrim
Rocket League (Collectors Edition)
Mario + Rabids: Kingdom battle

If I didn't buy a game physically It didn't exist physically on release, or I was either impatient, and the shipment in my area was delayed, sold out on release, or I simply didn't see the reason to buy it physically at all.

I only collect cartridges + mainly games I intend to play. I prefer the vita cases over the switch cases but they look great as well. Won‘t get any non physical game.

How awesome it is.....to collect uncomplete games.
noone of the games i buy are imcomplete, every game that says they need an internet connection to play i simply dont buy them

wwe game
la noir
megaman collections
resident evil collection(thats why i bough the jap exclusive unveil edition wich is just the first game only)
upcoming wolfenstein 2
and such.

when i see a agme that needs to download part of it to play single player i just skip it i will get lanoir and wolfenstein 2 on ps4 eventualy.

Regardless of the avenues you choose to take you're mostly going to be buying a digital download anyway considering updates are rather important in their own right, especially for online centric games like Splatoon 2, ARMS, or eventually SMASH, but the major difference is you'll end up saving a considerable amount of money buying physically especially if you shop with Amazon Prime, however you're more then free to think how you want to on it though, I do understand where your disconcern lays with this practice, especially with games like DOOM, where I feel they could've easily put their singleplayer on the cart itself, and made the Multiplayer an optional download considering you'd need Internet Access to use it anyway, but they didn't.

To be absolutely honest I wasn't even thinking of having to download EXTRA data as "incomplete" - and I don't know why- but rather normal patches and dlc but it sure is a good point. I was thinking of the entire game like BotW on the cart as incomplete due to dlc and patches. I don't want that. I used to not care but now I do.

a game isnt complete just becuase 6 months latter they make dlc, heck nintendo is probably the one who does the minimum of dlc of all 3 companys sony and microsoft make dlcs for preety much any title really.

Not collecting but I buy every game with my brother. So we have a big libary and can "switch" games ;)
We're over 30 years old. But so we only have to pay half the price per game.

When a game has been out for so long they stop patching it and all extra content is included in the physical disc....that's when it's complete. To me anyways.
