GBI recently fixed rumble support, which is great for games like Drill Dozer. However, using "Boot with Addons" freezes on the GB Player screen. I've already posted about that on GC-Forever's forum, but I wanted to see if (1) anyone else can repeat this problem and (2) if it also occurs on the EZ-Flash 4 v2.x kernel and/or the EZ-Flash reform. They all share the same (or at least similar) patching engine, and my chief suspicion is it's the patching that's introducing a timing issue causing the problem. Also, I haven't tested yet if this is a problem with the GB Player Disc so testing on that would be also informative.

Thanks for any information anyone can provide.

Yes, it matches no-intro. Non-trimmed. US.

Edit - Oh, and I did test with the GB Player Disc. It works fine with Boot with Addons.

I can't get Omega to load with GBI; all I get is a white screen. Could you upload your .dol you're using? Also, is there a beta for Omega we could try? I had no problems on the EZF4 mini SD version. No-intro, USA, trimmed. GB Player Disc works flawlessly with everything thrown at it.

Update: I'm now using the latest GBI.dol and it boots after pressing reset. Rumble is not working for Omega. No-intro, USA, trimmed.

I'd probably suggest cleaning the contacts on the GBP, although I don't know if it'll fix your issue with having to reset. I've not ever had such an issue with my EZ-Omega on the GB Player. As for rumble not working, what game are you trying? Drill Dozer? Clean Boot or Boot with Addons? Can you try another game?

Also, are you using any options? I presume you're using Standard edition? How are you actually loading GBI.dol?

On my end: I'm using Agent Under Fire and the associated homebrew exploit Exploit Under Fire. I'm using an SD Gecko clone to launch the gbi.dol v20180524. My .cli file is:

--aspect=4:3
--zoom=2.5
--offset=7:10
--overlay=frame-srgb.tpl.gz
--dither=none
--format=ntsc
--scan-mode=interlace
--filter=normal2x
--matrix=identity
--brightness=0.0
--input-gamma=2.2
--output-gamma=2.2
--contrast=.78125
--no-osd
--no-enhance

Can you try the EU version to see if it works?
That's the one I am using, and it does work with the last GBI and clean boot (with vibrations too).
The EU version is pretty much the same as the US one, beside having more language choices, so it might be worth trying ;)

Yea, the US version works with Clean Boot. The point is that GBI + Boot with Addons crashes/freezes but it doesn't the GB Player disc nor GBA SP.

Extrems says it's the patching (which I'm sure is at least part of it) which is why I was trying to find out if it's just an EZ-Omega thing or it happens on other EZ carts. Rumble + GBI works with EZ-Flash 4 1.x kernel/patching, and I suspect it's the new patching engine that's involved. My guess is that it's specifically a timing issue just like how rumble wasn't working precisely before. But it also looks like GBI might be crashing and outputting an error message (hard to tell since it looks to be black on black if it is).

Oh I see what you mean, sorry I misundertood ;)
Yeah true, it would be nice if it worked with the addons.
The new patch engine is completely different than the old one, the old one was just patching the rom to makes the saves work, and add some function for the reset and sleep, and then patch the rom in the memory.
I think the new one is not only patching the rom but also modifying it in real time and launching other functions for the in game menu, cheat and all.
It would be interesting to disable each function one by one to see what works and what doesn't.
In my experience the new addon and patching mode also has trouble depending on with hardware you use it with. For instance some games don't boot in the original GBA but boot fine on the GBA SP and DS.

So no way to know if it's GBI or the new addon mode.
I will do some testing with different roms to check that :D

haven't been able to reproduce this, but L+R+Start (among others) are no longer being pressed now.

Thank you. I can confirm that this fixes things on my end.

By the way, Home Bros. was fixed last month.

Yes, I remember reading about that. I ended up getting Agent Under Fire some time ago when Home Bros was broken and the SD Gecko which is much easier to work with. I just wanted to spell out my setup for reproducability and comparison.
