Hi,

A few questions from a new switch noob.

I have spent weeks messaging people on Ebay and searching local game shops, managed to snag a V2.3 switch. I understand this isn’t strictly required anymore, but I wanted to give myself the most options for CFW/TX.

I have a few questions that I couldn’t find a clear answer to:
  1. What is the recommended way to update to V3.0? I have seen the sticky post about cartridge games so was just intending to buy a cheap one of Ebay, are there any others?

  2. I’ve seen a number of guides instructing how to backup NAND, but none on how to restore it, is that TBC? I get the 'full raw' dump includes everything, but will we be able to use this with future releases?

  3. I’ve just purchased a 200GB Sandisk ultra (SDXC?) card from amazon, I’ve read I can only format this as FAT32 which I know has its limitations (4GB max file size), what’s the benefit to formatting to exFAT for the switch?
    a. Noticed the tutorial to install the exFAT ‘driver’ is this worth it? Are there any problems with leaving it as standard FAT32?

  4. Ill keep my switch offline until atmosphere is launched and we have a proper emuNAND, but any other tips from seasoned Vets?

Thanks :)

for your 2rnd question. It is possible to restore nand of the switch. But it does require that you have rcm mode (at the moment, there likely will be a homebrew for that in the os and not using rcm mode.)
For your 3d question, the advantage of exfat is mostly that files don't have to be chunked, also partial better read and write speeds. I said partial, not significant. And that tutorial for exfat is a bit complicated, I would wait for it to become more user friendly. Also older the better.

You can only update to 3.0 with a game cart, but it would be better not to update.

I've seen some people on here restore their nand dumps, unless you update your switch you should be able to restore and use it.

FAT32 only lets you use files that are 4GB or less, if you need to store bigger files, install the exfat "driver"

1. Pokken tournament cartridge version 000.
2. I think that there isn't a method for the public.
3. Maybe speed, but you won't ever notice.
4. Buy USB C to USB A cable.
