Oh okay so it's not actually a port of RE7 to the switch, it's just streaming the game from a pc to the switch. Can't we already do that now? Locally with our own pc of course, but that's already a tolerable but less desirable then playing it directly input lag. So doing that over the net would only amplify that negative aspect of it. Does anyone actually have a good experience like this? I mean even with a solid and fast connection any momentary hickup or small delay of some packets (or datagrams? probably uses datagrams) and you're pulled right out of the immersion you're like wtf! lol
I can kinda see how it's a cool thing to use sometimes locally at home with your own pc (if you don't feel like sitting at it for that particular game session) with minimal lag, but even when the day comes that there's absolutely zero lag even over the internet, I still want the game running on my pc instead of someone elses!
It's like theres a war going on for processing power. As computers accelerate faster and more powerful, we want that processing power to enable us to do more, to be self sufficient, to empower us, to enable us just with what we have to do what required big server farms previously. Then on the other side we have those (probably server farm owners and likeminded) who see this happening and they're like "wait a minute the people are becoming empowered how can we stop it? Even though they have the processing power, lets try to con them out of it by having them just not use it and instead become dumb terminals that just communicate with our servers where we actually use the processing power!" lol Not just with this game streaming stuff but anywhere there's major processing power going on there's this increasing push to convince us to let them process the stuff for us, and even though you could don't worry about it, too much power for you let us handle it.
Well I say screw that, and they've got a major problem with that idea, that they have to convince us to not use our processing capabilities and instead use theirs (which is really ours but we let them have it if we did that).
"Never give up essential processing power in exchange for temporary convenience, as in the end you'll end up with neither."
A modern take on the paraphrased "Never give up essential liberty in exchange for temporary security, as you'll end up with neither."
