I want to try read the contents off of a wii disc on my pc so i can try emulating mkwii with the ctgpr and wiimmfi patch on my pc by using the wii to patch the disc with both of those things.

It doesn't "patch the disc", the discs are read only, so even if you could read it on a PC it would just be the regular MKWii.
You can run HBC and homebrew in Dolphin however. Should be possible to run CTGP-R as well. You might need a NAND backup from an actual Wii for it to work. Most things do work without a NAND backup but there are some things that just can't be emulated.

Oh ok, but CTGP-R channel is made to crash in dolphin so it wont work.

but you can only make an image out of your disc. for an image you don't need to buy a drive. just make one on your wii with usb loader gx (propably there are more tools)

most are IDE drives, which sucks nowadays... (would need a ide to sata... adapter)
the ones i seen (the sata and notebook ones) are not dvd burners or even cd burners...
not worth to get one of thoose in the list...

there are 2 dead links in the thread, what does a drive specifically needs to read wii discs? there are millions of drives, what do i need to look for in order to read wii discs, is there a specific feature usually listed?

it's been some years I used that feature on usb loader gx, but if I remember correctly. my usb drive was on wbfs format, in usb loader gx there is a "plus" icon to read the disc. then you could export it into a iso with the wbfs manager. I don't know how it works now and what your setup is.

Weren't the keys used to encryot the disc released? If so it's easy enough to decrypt and read any Wii game disc dump. As for making the dump only certain Drives will work aside from an actual wii
