Okay so my current set up is a phat Vita running 3.65 Henkaku ENSO with a 64gb official memory card and a 128gb microSD card in SD2VITA (in one of the old smiley faced adapters, if that makes a difference).

I bought one of the newer SD adapters (the ones that look like an actual cart) for, like, $3 off Wish. It arrived yesterday and I switched my SD card from the old adapter into the new one. Booted the Vita up and noticed that it was taking a while to boot. ENSO logo came up, then black screen with flashing blue PS button. No worries, I figure, just hold down the power button for 30 seconds and reboot the device manually. With the new adapter, the orange light next to it at the top was flashing nonstop whilst trying to boot. Nothing, except black screen again.

Okay, so I assumed the new adapter is a dud and switch back to the old one. Boot up to the ENSO logo and then get the "You must update the software to use this memory card" message. Weird, not detecting the SD2VITA. Reboot again, this time turning the power off properly and holding L + power to reset Henkaku. No dice, it just boots immediately to the memory card and gives me the same update warning. None of my old Henkaku bubbles exist, despite booting with the ENSO logo. No molecularshell or VitaShell etc.

So now I'm stuck with a Vita I can't use and am too afraid to update. To be fair, it won't kill me to update because I compulsively buy my Vita games on the PSN, but I don't wanna lose access to emulation homebrew and that extra 128gb of storage.

The SD card looks fine, I'm backing up the data as we speak.

tl;dr SD2VITA seems to have broken ENSO 3.65.

Can you try to go henkaku settings in options and in there choose unlink memory card option, I believe that will fix your problem

These are the two errors I get with the SD2VITA out and the memory card in. Does this mean it could be a memory card issue and not the SD card?

I can't see img url, can you write error messages ?
And did you try unlink memory card ?

First error message is the Vita telling me to format the memory card.

When I try to unlink through Henkaku settings, I get "Failed to mount ux0. Is a memory card inserted? (C1-2758-2)"

I've had the same errors when I updated to 3.65. I took out my SD2Vita adapter, rebooted without it, put it back in, and after the next reboot it worked again

Tried, same error occurred.

No dice for me, unfortunately.

Tried another sdcard just to see if it recognize ux0 at all.

Popped a fresh spare SD card in, still prompting me to reformat.

So...
  • 128gb SD card and memory card in, prompts to update and can't unlink with a ux0 missing error
  • 2gb SD card in, prompts to reformat, can't unlink
  • No SD card in, prompts to reformat, can't unlink
Only thing I haven't tried is a different official memory card.

I don't know if it's worth mentioning but previous to this problem, I haven't been able to mount the memory card as uma0 so maybe the memory card is dead?

I am not sure how the PS Vita works, but it sounds like the PS Vita is on 3.60 (which I think that it should be even after updating to 3.65 Enso, but I am not sure) and the official memory card is on 3.65.

As for the SD card not working, maybe when the system was reset the config file was reset as well and now the SD card plugin is not activated?

If you have an official memory card that has never been used or has only been used on 3.60 or less, maybe you could boot from 3.60 with it and change the config file so that you can use the SD card adapter again (the old one) and then the other official memory card?

Are you still on Enso? You need reconfigure the SD2Vita, it seems your Vita is booting from Sony Memory card first, problem is it seem like you unlinked your memory card.

Thankfully I had a spare 4gb memory card lying around so all is not lost. When I boot up without the SD2VITA in, it boots normally into ENSO 3.65 with molecuilarShell. The problem arises when I put my SD card back in - it's telling me to update to use the memory card. Should I just wipe my SD card and start over? I've got the whole thing backed up so (hopefully) I won't lose my saves and whatnot. I just need to know what is safe to copy over and what isn't, so any tips there would be appreciated.

EDIT: I unlinked my memory card, chucked the SD back in and she's back! My baby is back!

Now, any idea on how to recover my 64gb card or should I just throw it aside for now?

If you got your SD card working again, then you might be able to use the 64GB again.
I think that if the SD card is acting like ux0, switching the official memory card should be fine, but I am not sure.

Also, did you check the config.txt in "ur0:tai/" to see if it has the SD plugin?

Yeah, my tai/config.txt are all set up properly. Interestingly, this 4gb card is showing up as uma0 finally, whereas the 64gb refused to no matter what version of the SD card plugin I used. I have heard that 64gb memory cards have a higher than normal failure rate so I can't help but wonder if it was on its last legs anyhoo.

I am not an expert or anything like that, so I have no idea what you could do about the 64GB at this point...

I got the same problem yesterday.
I resolved it by putting in both memcard and sd2vita, unlinking sd card, reinstalling henkaku using mtkaku instead of henkaku.xyz to get vitashell back. Installed sd2vitaswitch (or something like that) and switch it to ux0\uma0, reboot and recheck tai\config.txt for errors and apparently it solves the problem.
