Hi guys,

I haven't touched my 3DS in a long while and the last time I updated Luma was back in April 2016. Now I'm trying to follow Plailect's guide to upgrade to B9S.

Gone through Section 1, but stuck on Section II's "Boot your device while holding (Start) to launch SafeB9SInstaller". I tried adding the 'start_'/'y_' to the payload files as mentioned in this thread, but that didn't work. So I'm assuming it's because I'm on an old version of A9LH that it's failing for me? Is there somewhere where I can learn how to update A9LH to try this again?
Hold Select on boot. What version Luma does it say you have?

Holding Select on boot didn't work. On the Luma3DS configuration screen, it shows v7.0.5, I'm assuming this is because I went through Section I of the guide and used the required Luma3DS 7.0 file(s).
What do you mean it didn't work? How did you get to the configuration screen if Select on boot didn't work?

You might just have menuhax - try booting without the SD card, putting it back in when the home menu appears, changing the theme, then restarting it. If you console seems to no longer be hacked, you had menuhax. Just follow https://3ds.guide/homebrew-launcher-(soundhax)

Hi everyone, really noob question here.

First, I would like to know if when I download a 3ds game update from the Wii U USB Helper I can install it as normal CIA or if there is a special procedure for that. Besides that, is it ok downloading a game update officially from nintendo in the CFW?

You can download it perfectly from the Nintendo eShop

Nevermind, I just had to select the autoboot sysNAND option on the Luma configuration screen, saved it, turned off the 3DS. Then this time when I held Start on boot, it went to the chainloader.

Having autoboot sysNAND on or off can't affect whether the chainloader works so I don't know what you were doing wrong, but glad it is working now.

Do you already have a0lh or luma on that console as it is? Cause it looks like your console has already been hacked and luma is on there. Both of those said exploits wont work since luma is on there.

Turn your wireless comunications on or try the r19 version of safehax.Thats what is says to do in the guide.

It's not luma you are installing, its b9s so you can run the luma patch.Once you install b9s through the b9sinstaller,you should have no issues launching luma.

i had installed luma using another SD card a couple years ago, the problem is that i ran out of open blocks on that card and needed to install an update to play pokemon ultra sun. So I am trying to install luma using this new card...should i be going about this differently?

You need the latest release for luma since you are installing the latest b9s,which might not be compatible with older versions of luma. The version of luma you have from a couple years ago wont work on the latest b9s.

They also dont need to rehack the console. Luma is on there at a console level not just a SD Card. They just need the proper files.

Your pretty much good to go.Finish following the guide.

What i do is select
*enable game patching(optional)

*show nand or userstring in system settings

*show gba boot screen in patched agb_firm(also optional if you want the gba boot logo when you go to play gba games injected on the systems vc)
