Hello, today i got a new switch console on firmware 4.0.1. should i keep this firmware if i want to coldboot CFW without the hardware mod?
Yes, firmwares between 1.0.0 and 4.1.0 will eventually receive a cooldboot CFW entry, but firmwares between 1.0.0 to 3.0.0 are getting it sooner.

Hello, I'm new to the Switch scene. I purchased the system a few days ago from Walmart. It has firmware 4.0.1 I purchased it when I read that all current systems are exploitable. However, I then found out after I purchased the system, that firmware 3.0.0 is what's required for the homebrew channel, and various emulators.

As of today, May 6th, is there anything homebrew wise that I can use with firmware 4.0.1? I've disabled auto update with the system. Thanks for any help, information!

Just wanted to say thanks to all involved in the scene.

In terms of getting ready for upcoming CFW, I have a question about EmuNAND. I am on FW 3.0.0 and continue to experience the (mildly) annoying battery percentage reporting issue.

It may a dumb question, but I was never involved in the DS scene. I am assuming the way emuNAND works, we will be able to apply the firmware updates that include all the fixes and features that come along with those updates? I mean who doesn't want all those stability improvements... As opposed to only spoofing the higher firmware?

Along the same lines, for emuNAND, do we know yet how the firmware updates will be applied? Have they been isolated to apply individually? Or will we have to update using games?

Thanks in advance, I did a quick search and wasn't able to find much direct info about this.

CFW is a copy of a normal system.
We can select and boot the normal system and CFW.
Firmware Update is the same as the normal way.
If you update firmware the running system (sysNAND or emuNAND) is updated.

CFW is not running on a normal system.
The copyed system (emuNAND) IS CFW.
If CFW is released, we never update a normal system (sysNAND).

Nope. Well, there is but it isn't all that exciting. A CFW is now being developed which will be designed to work on all firmwares so the only reason to stay low is to make the install process more noob-friendly.

I'm on 4.1.0 right now but I can't use the eShop without getting the update nag and it's frustrating.

If I get Linux running on my Nintendo Switch is it possible for me to dump my nand, update that Switch, then downgrade later on using that nand?

In theory, it's possible.
Regardless of that,
For those who have stayed for a long time, I advise them to stay the firmware even if there are games they want to do now.
However you are not so, do you?
So I advise that you can update if you have games you want to do now.

I think that everyone can reach the same goal in the future. (no hardmod)
So everyone does not have to stay at the low firmware any more.

Whats up with 3.0.0? Ive been seeing a million posts about Linux and Fusee gelee but nothing about these on 3.0.0
Are we going to be able to enter RCM and download Linux ever? Or have we been forsaken
You can enter RCM and hack any switch on any firmware, but 3.0.0 and below will be easier to hack
on 1.0.0 can you use switchbru DNS and have the update servers blocked to get to the browser then set up Pegaswitch?
I don't think so, but if you ask people in the Reswitched discord, I'm sure they can answer
Is there super update nag on 3.0.0 or olders?
Yep. You can use an update blocking dns though

Wait a minute, are you saying on my 4.0.1 Switch, if I can enter RCM mode, I can have the home brew launcher and emulators running?

As of right now no, cfw is in early stages, it isn't even a beta yet, just wait a few more months for the release of a stable CFW and you we might end up having all kinds of emulators on this console.

For curiosity's sake: Aside from connecting any pin to Pin 4 (which fries the console completely as it's a 5V line), is there any risk for damage in connecting any other pins together?
actually, i wonder about that too.

also, does the switch take these oddly sized 200gb sandisk micro sd cards?

Can anyone explain why they are saying Switches above 3.0.0 will eventually have CFW when it's released?

Edit: Figured it out. Been seeing a lot of people talking about 3.0.0 for some reason, but it seems like any FW version can be "hacked" as long as you don't have a hardware revised switch that theoretically may come out in the future.

Just got my 4.1 Switch can I connect it to my internet ? Or that will automatically install the last update ?
It will auto download the last update, but it won't install it untill you tell it to. I wouldn't connect it to the internet unless you have to.
So is there any point to keep my switch at 1.0.0 atm?
YES! If you somehow manage to have a 1.0.0 switch. Keep it on that firmware. You will possibly get cfw faster, and you won't have to hardmod. There will also be more stuff available to you

Hey all, question: What is the switch jig for? Like, the little thing that people have been making that clips into the side of the system? Can any firmware person use that?

Thanks.
