If you succeed let me know what you did, I wanted to put Linux on my old surface pro 2 but apparently you can't get wireless or the touch type keyboard to work.
I had no problems. I installed Ubuntu 17.10 on mine just fine. WiFi didn't work for me out of the box so I installed the drivers for the Marvel chipset found here: https://pastebin.com/aBLHBFak

And now it works just fine without promiscuous mode. So no packet injection. Not a deal breaker. Bluetooth (when connected) seems to make the the WiFi spaz out, so I disconnect it when I need to use it. (Not often, to be honest.)

Performance wise it performs better than Windows 8 did. And since I carry it around with me anyway, it now has the added benefit of putting the Switch into RCM mode. Conveinent.

Edit: I don't have the touch type keyboard. Ubuntus on-screen keyboard is miles better than the one in Windows and I have been suffering with Microsoft's for years. I'm happy!

Hope this helps!!

Er...no they don't. By far the majority are still using microUSB. Type C is just now starting to be a thing with midrange phones, it was up till recently reserved for high end flagship phones.
yeah forgott to add most recent phones.

I tried it with a Galaxy S8 using an USB C to USB C Cable, the recoverty gets detected, but nothing happens after the site shows "Sending payload...". The Switch Screen stays black.
I will try it again tomorrow with an USB A to C Cable and an adapter.
