In light of recent events and the fact the NS shells are on sale (30% off), I decided to get the Clear Purple Shell.

Started to do left Joycon, it looks successful but I screwed up somewhere.
1) Left Joycon (LJC) is not read as handheld mode. No direct connections unlike my other Unmodded Joycons
2) However, connection still works as LJC still charges when connect to the NS

See from the picture
LJC is my clear Purple Shell I replaced
RjC is a Unmodded blue.

Both are currently attached to the NS.
Blue right reads as handheld as it should.
LJC does not.

It still charges so some of the connection works. (See bottom left of the screen)

It connects to the Switch via Bluetooth.
But not a direct connection like the Right Joycon
Iv not ever seen this happening before.
So it charges and works with bluetooth but will not direct connect.
If it will charge and work just not connect then id say your good you just have to put up with the fact that you will know that it has not direct connect

Ya, worst come to worst, it works at least. Just want to fix for a few reasons
1) to avoid same mistake on right Joy Con
2) some games don't allow particial handheld mode. I tried playing BotW in the past with 1 Joycon connected, other as wireless, and it gave me errors.

I did not know that but have not ever tryed that in breath of the wild. Have you looked on youtube to see if some one has a fix for it?

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive

    How are you doing?

There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
