They don't care because you can't distribute something made with leaked code. Nobody did anything with the 2000 source. ReactOS can't even look at it.

Well M$ seems to be getting much more friendly that they even give wind10 full 4 free, you don't need to put any serial number and register it, there isn't much drawbacks...
I bet even if XP source code would get leaked it would stay online for a long time, but no idea, not that I care either...
If it was wind10 source would be pretty cool but I bet M$ would only stop until someone would get jailed...
Edit: I would really like having a wind10 modded from safe sources with almost everything that I don't need removed from its internal kernel and other stuff...

Microsoft isn't getting "more friendly", they've shifted their business model to sell - you. Look, many people be using our "platform" many businesses want to have access to our users - here, we sell them to you (have store, have advertising opportunities, sell them your programs and ideas - but give us a 30% cut).
This is called the advertising model, and its the most dehumanizing thing in the world. Yet Facebook, google and Microsoft - have based their business model around it. And people like being sold to the highest bidding individual in groups, because they get the benefit of free. We don't want to pay for goods, how about you sell us to strangers, so we can get tricked to buy other goods, that dont have the popularity - to be called a "plattform", and you skim 30% off of others - we eventually will buy goods from.
Also - this is ruining entire pillars of democracy - like journalism, because it turned out, that if you are watched over and segmented more "in depth", and if people feed you with feels instead of researched stories - you, advertisers and people trying to sell you wares, like that much more - than whatever journalists did in the past (- selling reach, and not you as "grouped individuals" with specific likes, demographics and identities).
Also facebook be saying "We no content providers - we only advertisers - *shrug*, here read your friend feeds, look at those pictures! And all those articles of newspapers that want to reach you!" We no have responsibility. We only might do perceptual psychological experiments with the best scientific minds of our generation running the experiments, to keep you in a constant state of emotion, and optimize "stickiness" by inducing endorphin rushes - but look, heres a picture of your grandson - and have you seen what that SL*T of a neighbor did yesterday? I didn't believe it! Also - that call history with your stepdad - you didn't need that, didn't you? But we did.
And as an added bonus - people learn not to pay for products or services they like - in life (with money), they want to pay for them with data - which is very inefficiant - because this ONLY benefits the biggest data brokers (They have the best profiles!), and not small or medium businesses (Which wouldnt HAVE to sell your data, if they had already gotten your money.).

Anyway last thing I bought from M$ without being console related was probably wind XP indirectly as it came on my PC back in 2004, but I still ended up using a pirated XP Pro copy

Before that was my father's mouse\keyboard and win95 huge amount of disks which I still have.
I still have a pirated wind10 downloaded 4 them but then I patched it, but probably next time I will just leave it with a blank serial number.
However M$ also has or at least had the best console related support ever. People were even stealing from M$ LOL.
One time my Xbox 360 HDD died, I entered in the support and they said to send the HDD to somewhere very far in EU, so I just didn't care 4 it as anyway I was planning to put a 1TB HDD in it instead of the crap 120GB... But on the next day I actually received a mail saying my order was on the way and I was like mehh...
I actually received a brand new HDD without sending the old one. On a forum from PT they were actually lying and even had a kinda tutorial of what to say and were selling Xb360 controllers and HDDs that they got from M$ when they had theirs working.
I never did that, but on the Sony side ppl were paying a lot to repair YLOD even under warranty which is stupid, lots reported that on the same forum.
But if someone would leak the info to sign a FW on the Switch I bet it will take even more time in jail...

Trying to apply the Disney princess principle of "if its good looking and dresses like a barbie it gets the prince > I also want the prince" to describe companies - doesnt work. You arent using Microsoft products anymore - because other companies have eaten their cake. Mainly Apple in the "early disposable income" demographic (I can haz iPhone!), and Google in the 14-16 year old market (60% of the educational market today are Chromebooks - there you get your google login with 14-16 years, for life).

Unless you bought a new computer this year then there is no excuse for using pirated/patched versions of Windows 10. Official Windows 7 Ultimate activated with SLIC, upgraded to Official Windows 10 Pro gave you everything you needed.

Actually I don't care for any company or are fan of any... I care 4 good products with good price.
And If I could I would still use windXP moded... But M$ and the entire world makes you move to wind10 because it's were games are, DX12.......
I only buy parts... Also my old laptop is custom and I chose no OS too...
I never legally owned wind7 either...
And you should not even care buying windows, just download it from M$ store and don't put a serial ever and all will work and update fine...

For movies watching regarding all the codecs, format ... , i think it will be easier to have gpu video aceleration through nouveau-vdpau + linux then on Horizon OS directly.
This is a genuine question since I've never owned a tablet, but aren't there other cheaper tablets out there that would make better linux handhelds than the Switch? If not, then I kinda get it.

Yeah there's the Pixel C (also X1) but I already have a Switch and wanted porting experience. It was a good exercise and will be something I can point at for jobs or w/e. Also just curious to bring in an intersection of Linux kernel hackers (think XDA) into Switch stuff as well, it's no fun with just the console kids. Mostly all just for fun and to hopefully demystify things just a bit.
