Music making app KORG Gadget to release on the Switch eShop

IMG_7585.PNG

If you've ever wanted to make music using your Nintendo Switch, then you won't have to wait much longer, as KORG Gadget will be launching on the Nintendo Switch soon. KORG is a music studio app that lets users create music with 16 synthesized instruments by using an interface on the Switch's tablet screen, or by using motion with the Joy-Cons, such as turning the Joy-Cons as if they were a volume knob in order to control the sound. There's options for making music with drums, pianos, and you can even create your own chiptunes, right on the Switch. As well as letting a singular player create music, there's also a four-player mode, which allows a group of people to each choose a different instrument, and work together to create a melody. KORG Gadget launches as a eShop-only game on April 26, and will cost $48.

The KORG Gadget's most amazing feature is the intuitive music creation workflow, enabled by the KORG Gadget for Nintendo Switch user interface. Sound, Phrase, Sequence, and Mix are contained in an intuitive layout, and allow for seamless music creation. Also, it can also be set to “scale mode” to match the song. Even those who are unaccustomed to synthesizers are able to enjoy creating songs.

At first I thought it was about "Kork"

But a music program named Korg? That's even better then Kork!
You didn't know about KORG? Oh they've made a LOT of music stuff. They're a big name ^^ Here's some of all the products they've made during the years: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Korg_products

@x65943 I think they have to price it that way to be taken seriously. Just because they're a big company, have been in the music production industry for a long while, and selling other versions of the same product (minus some plugins perhaps?) for 300 bucks.
That's why I hope for a demo though, to lure in the more casual people.

$48 and only for download!? :O

I wouldn't even buy it if I was into music making, I have more fun buying one of those toy piano that come with the music inside of it or clipping a bunch of video game music/sound effects to make music. :wtf:

Every piece of music I’ve made over the past few years has been done using KORG Gadget on iPad (where it was originally released).
It's an incredibly powerful music synth generator tool, and I’ve had oodles of fun playing with it.

Everything listed from 2014 onwards is done in KORG Gadget.

(Soundcloud, too https://soundcloud.com/alodare )

I’m in two minds whether to grab the Switch edition or not.
One the one hand, I REALLY love using the iOS edition, so it might be fun to play with it on Switch.
On the other hand, I’ve spent hundreds.. literally hundreds.. on all the Addons for the iOS one, and I’m not sure I’m willing to start doing it all over again!!

I actually think it's pretty cheap. Music production software usually is quite expensive.
Like KORG Gadget... for Mac:

Well that's professional software for professionals. On the switch will be more like a toy to have a few fun playing a music...

I wonder how you even enjoyed the 3DS version on it's super small screen and beyond horrible touch technology from decades ago lol it wasn't precise and smooth.

Any android touch device had better free apps.

On the Switch at least the touch is like any other tablet, capacitive touch it will work good but it still won't be a professional tool to be played at concerts connected to the real synthesizer like the pc versions.

I never liked these KORG music things on console. It never made sense to my why anyone would want to use it since you couldn't export the music off the DS or 3DS. At least with Switch there is no excuse since they've made multiple iterations and have SD blatantly available. If they don't implement an export, this software is simply useless and that price point is hilarious.

Played the DS version. Liked the homebrew music makers more.

On discussions price then I agree this is somewhere between "one time hardware maker does not realise the ground has fallen away beneath them" and "actually, people do pay a lot for such functionality in other things".

As far as being able to use it goes then it is probably not going to be the industrial music production tool of choice but I found the older things very workable -- it is probably not going to be a substitute for a super accurate 30 button sampler/playback device but as a sequencer or something to lay down a rough cut, possibly before then refining it with the onboard sequencer, it was more than up to the task.

Does the headphone/aux cable not count? We saw proper DJs do such things, sometimes as a gimmick but not always.

I mean I do find it a bit of piss take that they did not find a way to send it over network. I know it is to prevent them from providing too much competition to themselves but hey.

Maybe we should hack in an export.

The ridiculous prices for Music software really is ridiculous. I have no quarrels with pirating stuff like this.
Most professional/niche software tends to be expensive (it takes the same amount of time and developers to develop, tends also to have a smaller audience) and people seem willing to pay the money (and something is worth what someone else is willing to pay).

Is it more than I would be willing to part with for such things? Absolutely. If you feel compelled to justify your piracy though then it does not seem like a great line in reasoning.

I think you misunderstood me. I didn't say it justifies piracy. I said I have no quarrels with it.

I'm mostly referring to pro tools. Which is ludicrously extensive, has stupid and often broken DRM and has less features than software much cheaper.
