I have Luma CFW on my 2DS XL and have randomized Pokemon X and placed the necessary files on my SD. If I delete the Pokemon X game update the randomized game loads properly. Is it possible to play the game randomized with the update on a 2DS and what would I need to do to accomplish this?

In this video tutorial, you can find the easiest way for randomizing (i really suggest you to follow it), but it doesn't mention how to merge the update
But i'm here to tell you:
You need to dump the .cxi of both the game and the update that you have installed on your 3ds, using godmode9
Games are in A:/title/00040000/<title id>
Updates are in A:/title/0004000e/<title id>
Then you need to extract romfs and exefs of the game .cxi
Then you need to extract romfs and exefs of the update .cxi
(In the video description you can find a pack with a tool that can do the work)
After that, you have to copy-paste the update folders over the game ones, overwriting when prompted
Now you can edit the files using pk3ds
Then prepare your Luma folder with only the edited files... bla bla bla... you already know it
