I guess I didn't explain this very well haha. Someone reported to me that their retroarch was force closing itself whenever they pressed that combo accidentally (Push both analog sticks in and L+R). I tried it out on my system, where I have never setup hotkeys, and yeah I get the same thing. I'm just wondering if this is a bug i should report or not
Just tried it out.
Indeed, pushing both Analog sticks down along with L+R quits RetroArch entirely back to the HBL.

However, I don't think this is an issue, but more like a Button combo hotkey to exit RetroArch instantly, no need to worry about that.

Hello, I am currently using retroarch 1.7.1 and I am not able to put the playlist with the thumbnails. I followed all the necessary steps, the directories are properly selected and it still does not work, so what am I doing wrong?

Does the playlist and thumbnails work in xmb retroarch yes or no? Is there any step by step in detail so I can copy? The tutorial at the top of the page did not work.

thank you

You can set the directory for thumbnails to wherever you want in the 'Directories' panel.

Hmm yeah i tried that before, didnt really work. Tried also d/ling with the playlist buddy, images show up like 5% of the time and its totally random when it does. God knows how im meant to set all this up.

Can I see your folder structure? for sd:/retroarch?

The display name of the ROM inside of your playlist must match the thumbnail file name

Does the file name matter? I get my roms from various sources so they might not have the correct name. The playlist generator works though and sets it all up fine, just minus the images.

What the hell man? What did you just do to your poor Wii U? :D :D
Oh it was simply dust covering the exhaust ports
Nothing to worry about.
I left the Wii U turned on for like 6+ hours yesterday, played WW HD for 3 hours, and it didn't even come close to the temperature it reached when it turned up.

It was a matter of simply cleaning/clearing up the exhaust ports from dust by simply blowing on them until I saw no more dust come out of any air entrance/exit anymore.;)

The display name must match. I don't believe it's related to the ROM file name. Please have a look here for further info: https://docs.libretro.com/guides/roms-playlists-thumbnails/

Thanks dude, ill check it out (:

One more Q sorry for double posting, but is it possible to download certain system snapshots from herE:

https://github.com/libretro/libretro-thumbnails

Instead of the whole entire library of thumbnails? The entire download just locks up like 50mb in.

How do I create lists in retroarch? I try in every way and I can not. In the menu + analyze directory I select the roms / Atari - 2600 directory it scans right but it just does not create the list so I can move on to the next step of placing the thumbnails.

Once I was able to create the list, but I could not access the games on the list, it simply did not trigger the game.

Go to the Settings tab and there's an option called "Playlists"
There you have you specify which cores will run which consoles.
For example which core will run GB games, which one GBC, and so on.

I have not been able to get the game list to appear yet. The emulator scanner does not seem to work I've already done everything and nothing happens, can it be buggy? Could anyone make retroarch.cfg and retroarch-core-options available to replace existing ones? I think I may have tampered with something. I accept suggestions for help for the emulator scanner to work.

Yes, I'm sorry but who actually needs them?

People who use emulators have their roms already classified in their HDD by system in different folders. This playlist system looks great for someone having a mix of roms for different systems in the same folder. But honestly who does that? And besides that why doesn't it pick all the roms inside the folder??? Who needs validation against a server (after 4 hours adding my snes roms, I found half of the roms where not listed and that all the roms inside 7zip folders where spread there making it really hard to navigate)

I know retroarch lets you navigate through your folders and then pick a rom (and it supports 7zip which is great for people having full romsets). But then you won't see any thumbnail at all. Not to mention it never remembers the path where you were making it really annoying to continue navigating

If it were me I wouldn't spend more time trying to fix a system that just doesn't work. I would focus on the file explorer. This is how the great GX emulators on the Wii worked and we were very happy about it

This of course is just my opinion, but I see people constantly complaining about all this (good luck making thumbnails being displayed, I almost cried the day I finally managed to do it) and I think it could be improved in lots of ways by just giving up the playlists idea
