Hello. I’m kinda new to the Monster Hunter save editor thing here. Anyway, I’ve been trying to make my game use the edited genes and stuff that I gave my monsters, but for some reason, it’s not working. Is there something I’m missing? Why won’t the save data from the Editor get to my game?

I’m currently using Checkpoint as a Save Manager if that helps.

just use JKSV. its known to work

Does anyone else have access to the Preorder DLC Eggs? I can upload the Explorers Set Eggs I got today, as with update 1.21 of the Save Editor, we can extract eggs.

Explorers Set Eggs are:
Yian Kut-Ku (Ice), Lagombi (Thunder), Rathian (Water) and Zinogre (Fire).

I have these in exported egg format, and I have attached them to this post, had to 7z the first as my browser wouldn't allow bin files to be attached to this post.

Can anyone else get the others? Need the Riders Set (Zinogre (Ice), Tygrex (Fire), Nargacuga (Lightning) and Khezu (Water)), and the Hero Set (Rathalos (Ice), Lagiacrus (Fire), Brachydios (Lightning) and Qurupeco (Water)). If some kind soul could extract these from their game, before hatching said monsties, then posting them here, it would be swell.

For those interested, I made progress on character customization. The offsets need to be adjusted to fit the save data, but I found the locations in RAM to change practically every feature of the player character - and some ridiculous combinations are possible.

So here's a standard female character, customized within the game's normal editing limits

but the true potential is yet to be realized. While both genders share the same IDs for hairstyles and other features, there are separate 'gender flags' that can be toggled to let you use the other' gender's customization options.

here's after switching the flag on hair and makeup without changing gender settings on anything else:

Practically everything can be flipped independently so you can theoretically customize to your heart's desire. Want a boy with a ponytail, blush cheeks, and toothy grin (because buck teeth are meh)? girl with freckles and Goku-esque hair?

its technically possible. As soon as we work out the offsets in the actual save it should be perfectly easy to add to the editor.

EDIT: as noted in a later post, the values are updated by battle start, so gender flipped attributes will revert to the appropriate gender's version with the same ID unless the byte is held in an altered state via cheat code, killing practically all application of how useful this could have been. Sadly even with cheats codes, gender flipped attributes are not visible to other players in battles under any circumstances (they display as the 'correct' gender's attribute that shares the ID, which is not always a similar style)

slight catch in the plan. Entering battle at all updates the gender bits for each option, reverting you to a consistent gender (and since most options dont directly coincide for male/female, it can give drastically different hair/etc. such as the male's Rathalos themed hair -> female's Kut-ku themed hair which share the ID of 16. The female's Rathian themed hair has an ID of 18, which it shares with the male's Brachy themed hair).

Rider cards also do not reflect gender modifications to the various options and update instantly if manually hex edited in RAM, thus only a code can force it to stay constant in an unnatural state. The only way around this are NTR/gateshark/AR codes that forcibly change them at all times (available below. also will be submitting to JourneyOver/HollowedFear's AR code database).

Customizing your look (namely those that can't be changed after initial character creation) with same-gender options will be consistent when changed in the save editor - including keeping the DLC tournament hair styles even if the DLC tournament has not been cleared yet (so long as you dont change off a locked hairstyle with the in-game tools).


AR Codes (add to existing code list, if need be). Codes are for US version only. Sadly, none work for the opponent's perspective in online play.

open the eggs tab, left click once on a slot (preferably an empty one but can be occupied if you wish to overwrite an existing egg), then click the 'import' button.

im playing it on a 3ds and are there any other egg codes i can import?

you need to be able to export your save (thus Homebrew/CFW is needed). Once you do that, the editor here will let you import/edit eggs. I've been tinkering with optimal builds beyond the best 'meta' builds I can find, so I might be releasing a few teams/collections for various rule sets at a later date. the ones posted here have many redundant gene effects that waste potential effectiveness (and/or use genes not valid in the US version) A couple of my builds technically bend the rules (IE:Using Epona's gene over Speed Gene L, which can't be channeled due Epona being marked as special/unreleasable) but avoid outright unobtainable genes, such as the [___]Killer genes or the useless Speed/Vital/Defense Star genes (the last 3 only affect Rider weapon combos, such as Power->Power->Tech with Greatsword)

Quick PSA for those of you who want the alternate blue saddle on your monsties: The way to get it is to hatch the monstie possessing one or more of certain rare genes. As such, adding a Potential Gene (hex ID 010b) to an empty slot of an egg will guarantee the blue saddle. To guarantee the red saddle, hatch the monstie with just its default gene (contains its species name) to ensure it hatches without any rare genes, then edit the genes as desired on the hatched monstie.

The flag for this is somewhere in the save, but its likely either encrypted or stored in a format I'm not expecting. Its not in the monstie's data and its not tied to the monstie ID (as changing the ID to a monstie with the other saddle color doesn't change the color) however its clearly constant as channeling/editing genes does not change the color of the saddle all rare genes are replaced.

My game is 1.3 JPN now! Everything is good except the Monsters in MHSEC-G :< I can not edit any monsties and its genes....
Any idea to help me? :<

Yeah I just wanted to say I've been using this on a Japanese .cia on the 1.3 update just fine.

The only thing it messes up is the "look" of monsters page in editing, but that doesn't affect the monsters in game when you load and play (and you can still edit genes etc).

And I tested the '@' values for the unknown armour (on the Google drive on OP) that don't have images in the 1.2 update(?) and here's what I get for them in the updated version of the game (0050, 0051, 0052, 0053).

Edit: Aaaand in 1.3 you can completely customize your players gender, face, everything from the beginning of the game in your room.

Is there egg data in the game for Versa Pietru or is it an enemy monster? And since there is a walking model, flying model, and egg model for them would it be possible to own a Versa Pietru in a rom hack of the game in the future (with spread elder breath?)
