It's worth noting that these keys can be used to decrypt .NCA files, the same week a Switch game cart dumper was released.

At the time of writing it is still impossible to run ripped Switch game cartridge files, but after this week, and a year of Switch hacks - it looks like we are closer than ever to seeing retail games running on hacked Switch systems.

Things are going quite fast, but Dreamcast still has the record I think
It's a common misconception. The Dreamcast wasn't hacked and it didn't have piracy for quite some time. The rips most people run were actually based off of an unused feature that the system had, Mil-CD. Running a 1:1 DC game would result in failure. The console released in late 1998 but the scene wasn't a thing until mid 2000 IIRC and that's around the time piracy was achieved. Now the Sega CD was a different story. All you needed was to do a 1:1 rip and you could backup pretty much anything.

Sorry for ranting

This really flips my Switch, if ya'll know what I'm talking about ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

No but really, both the above- and under-ground scenes are moving at absolute breakneck speed with this console and it is super exciting to watch, especially after being stuck the way I was in the Wii U days

Impressive work from BigBlueBox. It seems like they are one step ahead of the Switch hackers. I wonder who is behind this team, as they do not seem to communicate outside their releases.
It's for the best, the second they put anything traceable online it's the way of Kongznuts for them

No need to be sorry, thank you for correcting me !

Dreamcast was released in 1999 in EU/NA, I was using this date since it was the one I remembered, but you're right, it makes way more sense to take the Japanese release into account ! Didn't know about the Sega CD though, I'll go to bed smarter today, thanks again !

i mean look at the dreamcast
Piracy had a whole 0 to do with the Dreamcast failing.

The Dreamcast failed because A) Sega was bleeding money on every console sale, B) Their last 3ish console devices (32x, Saturn, and Sega CD) sold like utter ass and had so little support from Sega, which destroyed consumer confidence which resulted in less sales, C) Lack of support from popular devs, D) Released way too early for a new generation console, with inferior hardware to the PS2, which was also extremely hyped up from the massive PS1 success, and E) had features that were simply too far ahead of it's time (mainly the whole online system)

Anyways, as to the news, nice to see more Switch hacking stuff release amongst all these "promises" of releases and such.

Pretty much posted what I had planned to post. Most people still had dial up internet, when Dreamcast piracy was achieved. Anyone who claims piracy is what completely killed the Dreamcast, is just making excuses for Sega. Sega was dead before they Dreamcast was out, Sega of Japan feuding with Sega of America made sure of that.

Does anyone know what firmware these are actually for? The first one was 1.0-2.1 so these I assume are 2.2-3.x and and 4.x, or something like that?
Edit: I guess they are 2.2-3.0 and 3.0.1-3.0.2 since it says 4.x games still can't be decrypted.
Still, great news for anyone staying behind on 3.0 or older. You might get a way to play newer (3.x) games soon by using these keys.

Is the Switch the fastest hacked device in history already?
Everyone is pouring so much effort poor Nintendo doesn't have a chance!
Wii U was faster, that took less than a month.

The games were hacked to run from Mil-CD. Like when commodore 64 games were hacked from tape to disk. That is still piracy.

Anyone who claims piracy is what completely killed the Dreamcast, is just making excuses for Sega. Sega was dead before they Dreamcast was out, Sega of Japan feuding with Sega of America made sure of that.

Sega had put the megadrive fiasco and the saturn behind them by the time the Dreamcast came out. The dreamcast died because of a combination of piracy and Sony announcing the PlayStation 2 with a DVD player. There was plenty of trading and commercial piracy going on, plus the rips were relatively tiny.
