The Pimax is natively compatible with any SteamVR type tracking systemsPimax 4K isn't really worth it because of its lack of good tracking and other minor display problems. You're going to want a Vive, for the controllers and base stations (trackers) if nothing else. Then later upgrade to Pimax 5K or 8K, which work with your Vive controllers/trackers. There 2-3 other high FoV PC HMDs that have recently been announced as well, so a couple years on those.
Basically just go for a SteamVR setup. If you're looking more for sitting/standing VR instead of room-scale, Oculus Rift is less expensive, though whether you trust Facebook (who own Oculus) with your data is up to you.
On their website it says the 4K has "gyroscope, distance sensor, motion sensor, light sensor, magnetometer." AFAIK it doesn't track with Vive lighthouses because it doesn't have the proper receivers, but Pimax 5K and 8K are base station 2.0 ready, which is compatible with 1.0 base stations as well. The Pimax is natively compatible with any SteamVR type tracking systems
You are SO right, I was thinking of the 5kOn their website it says the 4K has "gyroscope, distance sensor, motion sensor, light sensor, magnetometer." Pimax are using LCD displays, which I've heard resulted in some smearing with motion in the Pimax 4K. It seems to be resolved in the 5K and 8K per impressions and videos. Also the 4K is 110 degrees FoV, same as Vive, where the 5K/8K are 200 degrees FoV.
