Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a nice week.

I have a small series of questions today :

1. Where are PS- Vita game's save-data stored ? (using VitaShell directories)

2. Can these save files be transferred to a PC ?

3. If Yes to #2, can game save-data be modified and transferred back (or even overwritten) to the PS- Vita ?

4. Are there homebrew/bubbles for the PS- Vita that Copy/Save/Overwrite save-date ? (Compatible with 3.60 or 3.65)

Thanks for taking the time to read, and I look forward to your answers !

ux0:/user/00/savedata/.....

Yes (manually or with the official Content Manager + QCMA)

No, saves are encrypted (but the SaveMgr homebrew can make and restore decrypted and extracted backups. Not sure if it's already updated for 3.65 but it can be with RePatch, since it operates the same way as Vitamin/Mai)

save manager creates a fake patch to redirect the save file(s) to the data folder from what I remember. I did successfully reencrypt a tales of hearts r save for use with nonpdrm. it was a mai dump before with a decrypted save. you need to delete the patch in ux0:Patch/title id and rename the save in the data folder (may not be needed anymore with the latest version). I don't know about 3.65.

the way I restored my one save was through save manager. I'm not sure if decrypting it must be done on the profile that made it though. once it's decrypted, restore it on the new profile. be warned though, the newest save manager has this weird sorting system and no cursor unless you press either start or select and change them.

I do have some saves on my ps vita cards, but I have lost a few game saves.

oh well I do have the Save manger now its a brilliant toot, I am very new to the ps vita(modded).

the let-mai-die tool looks good when it comes out, its a bit of a shame I am on the latest firmware with that tool.

it sucks to lose saves, but at least now you can backup your new saves without all that bs encryption getting in the way. that's one reason why I like a hacked console...not just for piracy, but the ability to back things up. ;)

3. Actually, all you need is VitaShell, really.
Go to ux0:user/savedata, select your save, press triangle and choose "Open Decrypted."
Select the data file itself (names vary), press triangle, select "Copy," go to the root of ux0:, press triangle, select "Paste."
Connect to your PC using either USB or FTP, copy the file, open it in a hexeditor, edit it, copy it back to your memory stick.
In VitaShell, go to where you copied the edited file, press triangle, select "Copy," go to the game's save folder, open it decrypted again, delete the original data file, paste the edited one in its place.
Bada bing, bada boom.
You can also just edit the data file in VitaShell, if you so choose.

Sorry if I sound stupid but what do you mean by: "...open it in a hexeditor, edit it...". I mean what exactly edit? Which part and replace it with what? I'm asking because I want to transfer my save files of Persona 4 from my 3.60 henkaku PSTV to my 3.65 ENSO VITA OLED and I'm a bit lost...

Thanks

edit....

Never mind... I found a slightly different way to transfer my Persona 4 saves. I will describe it here because I kind of searched and guessed what to do (based on your instructions as well so thank you :) ) and I thought that maybe other people could find it usefull...

Basically my story is this. I had a 3.60 hacked PSTV which I was playing Persona 4 last summer. This summer I bought an OLED PSVITA which I've installed ENSO 3.65 so I wanted to continue my old Persona 4 game. Here is the process I followed. Obviously certain steps could be altered... I'm mainly writting it here for my own use as well in case I forget the process in the future... :)

- I transfered by simply copy paste the whole save game folder PCSE00120 (This is the game folder for Persona 4) from ux0:user/00/savedata from the PSTV to my PC.

- Then I renamed the folder to PCSE00121 (so it won't overwrite with the existing folder the game created on my OLED Vita) and copied it to ux0:user/00/savedata on my OLED Vita).

- I used "Oped Decrypted" to open the folder PCSE00121 and I copied all the save files (data0001.bin, ...0002.bin etc etc) as well as the file sdslot.dat from the folder "sce_sys" to the folder ux0:data.

- I copied the save files (data0001.bin, ...0002.bin etc etc) from the ux0:data folder, I used "open decrypted" for the ux0:user/00/savedata/PCSE00120 (the proper game folder) and pasted the files in there.

- Finally I did the same for the file sdslot.dat and placed it inside the ux0:user/00/savedata/PCSE00120/sce_sys folder.

I loaded the game and all my saves were there... Enjoy :)

Sorry for bumping a Old Thread, but I have 1 quick Question:
With the Saves located in ux0:user/savedata/*Game TitleID* , if I wanted to start a Game from scratch, I can Delete the Game Save Folder and be set, yes?
Reason I ask - There are Games where you can not start over. The only way to start over is to Uninstall, then Install again. If the above Question is Yes, then that will save Users LOTS of problems.
But I tried to Delete Saves before, and had big problems. Not only with that Game. It seemed to affect other Games, I did not mess with.

Edit: Do I also remove Folder from "ux0:user/00/savedata_backup/ " ?????

Yep. The ux0:user/savedata/[TITLEID] folder should be the only one to delete. The savedata_backup folder is just for the setting for PS+ auto uploading of saves.
I've actually been using VitaShell for save-scumming lately, and the only games that give me issues are games that do any kind of synching with an online server. Skyforce is a good example. If you delete your save to start over, if you connect to the network after, it'll jack stuff up. Same with 99Vidas.Turn off any in-game settings (if the game has them), and/or play offline from the beginning, and you should be fine.

Thanks this just helped me. I spent a while figuring out how this had to be done. For some reason copying the files directly did NOT work, however copying them to that Data folder first, and then copying them a second time back to the save folder Open Decrypted did work. Thanks

Glad you've made it... It was confusing for me in the begining as well... :)
