Just uploaded 1.03 for the people testing;
Fixed;
* Removed Empty stages
* Big rotating objects now destroy any smaller objects in thier path
* changed the menu colour
* moved the heart meter to the center of the screen,
* level count and current level to the top right
* small progress bar on the top right of teh screen fills up the closer you get to the end of the stage.

I've been going a bit off track lately but its mostly bug fixing and testing. Should I go through the trouble of making bullets bounce off solid objects?

Hmm... would it add anything to the gameplay?
No it would not add anything to the game play. Its more for polish than anything else. The gameplay is already complete which is why I have already been sending it out testers.

The gameplay pretty much consists of shooting everything on screen and dodging the stuff that cannot shoot down.

That sounds good... maybe you could make it so you have to dodge your own ricochets? :)

(or catch them for extra points)

Hah the player has a high fire rate so with bullets flying about I think the players would be pretty annoyed to have to deal with dodging thier own bullets. Lol. If you want to test it out in its current state I can send you a link. I am always looking for comments and suggestions that are easy to code.

Result: failure. bullets bounce so fast I can barely see them. Some bullets get stuck between colliders. Doesnt seem to work as I imagined in 3d.

Nearing full feature completion now;
- updated game menu‎
- invert up-down setting.
- change target look speed setting.
- change field of view, music vol, sfx vol, hide HUD setting.
- take screenshots , photo mode
- hard difficulty has more solid objects in the path that you need to dodge.
- solid objects deflect all bullets and bombs.
- easy difficulty only has ONLY space levels.
- easy difficulty stages are short‎.
‎- lazers are now drawn with lines instead of cubes (looks better).
- lazers now bounce off solid objects x3‎.
- game ends at level 100 in all difficulties‎.
‎- random jump option allows you to play randomly selected levels. Mis jump.
- online leaderboards for all difficulties
- auto-updates when a new version is available ‎
- debug menu added for those interested in how the engine works under the hood.‎ Shows stats, and collision masks. Should prove interesting for future gamedevs.
‎- settings are saved on exit.

I would like to test your game.
You and I seem to be one of the few guys here who consistently keeps coming back to the Wii mod scene. (It really interests me.)
Also: what's this game called exactly?

Cool. I send you a PM. I like the little white box (or red or blue or black). Sometimes the limitations are frustration but most times the limitations are like a warm blanket that I snuggle up in.

For the past week I have been working on quality of life fixes and bugs in the game loop. Like if you restart the game before you die it should go directly to the game instead of flashing the title screen then starting. While instead if you exit the game it should go to the title screen while still scrolling the terrain in the background. These things are really just polish but necessary in order to have a finished game. I was even thinking of putting in achievements but the interest is not enough to warrant the work I would have to put in to get them working. plus it would add a whole new screen to the menu. In the mean time I am always looking for testers. PM me or tweet me whatevs.

here are some screenshots from last week;

I am gonna try and a boss to the game to kinda round it out a bit since I have made it so far I might as well go the extra step. But I got distracted from boss building when I remembered that I had this partial sphere model that I made to use as a planet fly by prop.

Anyway I am always looking for testers. The boss section is the last feature I am adding. I promise, lol.

I've updated the build to 1.09 for the testers. fixed some bugs while I am working on the boss orb that is going to appear at the end of some of the stages. Frame rate should be more stable on the ground stages. Right now the boss orb does NOTHING at all but it has a health bar and you can shoot it until it dies then you can progress to the next stage.

Still working on the boss that you fight at the end of the level. The gist of it is that you have to shoot the yellow core as stuff circles around it. While the player avoid crashing into the spinning orbs. I do not foresee any coding problems with this sidequest.

another week, still on this wii stuff

spent the weekend ironing out how the boss is going to work. basically the objects rotate around the yellow core. The core is always yellow so you know thats what you need to shoot and it flashes red too when you hit it. The inner circling objects deflect bullets. The outer rotating objects are actually on the same plane as the player and so if you stay in line with them you will get hit - 3 hits and you are dead! I vary the amount of of objects, more objects the harder it is.
