the problem is the dock!
nyko has problems since release.
scorbel has problems too and i say that is it a cheap dock.
From Cforce and Coov you have only a little bit of problems message.

there are 5 boards and i think there are more.
Nyko, Coov, Scorel, Cforce, Nintendo

My Coov SH500and SH350 works fine with 5.0 and without problems

THANK YOU! for your confirmation. BTW since you have the SH500... I seem to have a nasty annoyance of the Switch only recognizing wired controllers connected to that dock after a power cycle. Most times I can't just slide on a powered up Switch, plug in a USB controller and just play. BTW the Switch is only a few months old and it happens on the two consoles here so it's not just a thing with my Switch. I don't mind having to power cycle (I play maybe once or twice a week) I'm just wondering if this is a "thing" with this particular dock.

i have both the SH350 and the SH500

mmh i dont now that there is a problem with wireless controllers.
the joycon works fine and the ps4 works fine too with the switch.
i have a release switch and the docks are the first produced.

the only problem that the coov docks have is that the switch goes out of the stand by modus but the dock send no picture.
just slide out and in then the picture comes.
its only when wake up from stand by.

I've used several of those docks before and got issues with all of them at some point. Bricked too (Not the Nyko one that did that, surprisingly)
Before 5.0 was released.

Honestly, just take the chip from the official dock you've got and buy a case. It's cheaper and you won't have to worry about this crap.
Just be careful and don't lose the screws.

This will probably screw me when I get a Switch...

I was thinking when they fully hack it they might be able to trick the console into dockstation clocks on the portable and I wanted to make my own power bank with lipos, but seeing this it would probably kill the switch too grrr...

I wonder if it's actually supplying 15v on the dock or really just 5v all the time for the switch it self...

strange! i have no problems with the coov docks and other that i knew that they have also the coov docks have no problems too.

and i need a second dock because to change room i must unplug and plug in the cable of the original dock everytime.
thats not good for the ports.
because of that i need a second dock.

the original dock is expensive with 80-89€

I doubt it has anything to do with 5.0.0, 3rd party docks have been killing Switches for a while and it's not even limited to just the Nyko dock. The SFANS adapter does the same thing, and it uses a COOV board for the internals, which can be easily bought on AliExpress. Who knows how many other 3rd party docks on eBay etc. use that same board...

No. It's been confirmed by backers on the Indiegogo page that it's the COOV board.
You must be thinking of the Switch-Con, which is actually made by the C-Force guys.
There was a rumor early on that the SFANS was just a rebranded C-Force, but now that the units have been shipped out to backers, it's obviously a completely different design than what they originally started with.
The COOV board is special because it's designed as a drop-in replacement for the original board, same form factor and everything, and a lot of the 3rd party docks i see on eBay can be purchased as shell only to put your original dock hardware in, or with hardware in it, which makes me think there's a high likelyhood they're simply buying the empty shells and putting the COOV board in them.

Hmm? Wait? What? That stuff is a danger to my switch :O?
I just have some switch compatible usb-c to hdmi adapter ... that too? Any guesses? I had no issues, but now I am scared :( Voltage negotiation not working :wtf:? Is that a "can happen to you at any time even if device worked before" or a "happens on arrival and does depending on production run of cheap adapter" issue?

Hmm mine works without issue. Should I burn it and sacrifice a large goat to the devil to make my switch save again? Or does "works" imply that I got a good board?
What I mean is: Does one time working imply no future issue?

mmh i wonder which power supply the user have taken when the dock make the switch defekt? the original power supply, a 5v supply or a 15v supply?

then they must have a other board in the hdmi hub as the board in the dock.

I mostly used a 5v supply (power pack), and I think I used the original once.

As I look at the reviews now it seems people have a lot of issues with the device, or at least some revision of it (seems there is more then one).

Thing is, none of this would be a huge deal if Nintendo would just introduce cloud saves already. Nyko replace bricked Switchs if their dock is the culprit. I don't mean to shift blame, because its also very shitty that these 3rd party docks have these issues. But still, how are cloud saves not a thing yet? Switchs are gonna break or get lost regardless of these third party docks, and they must recognize that.

I am still thinking I should at least sacrifice a singing bird, or some endangered species to make sure I will not damage my switch ... :O

yeah the on in the video has problems with charging the switch with a nyko dock.
that a problem that is there since release of the dock that it damage the loading port.
I think it has damage the data chip.

BUT h e had only the problem with the nyko dock but he set that all other docks and dock boards has it too.
But he has no proofs that the other docks has and make the same probs.

its like a witch hunt he make

this reminds me of the issue with Nyko coolers and the Xbox 360 back in the day. there were multiple reports of the device shorting out the system, though I can't recall if it resulted in any total power failures.

Why is Nyko even allowed to make products if they're too stupid to properly QA test them?
