Skyrim VR Comes to SteamVR

Last November, Bethesda Game Studios took their epic fantasy masterpiece to the exciting new frontier of virtual reality with the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR on PlayStation VR. Now, Skyrim VR comes to a new platform – PC using SteamVR.

Skyrim VR contains the complete core game as well as all its official add-ons – Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn – in one package.

The game, which costs 59,99€, is compatible with both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive using tracked motion controllers or a gamepad will hit Steam on April 3rd.

Bethesda seems to carry on with its tradition to bring Skyrim to every platform. Will Skyrim become the Doom of modern gaming?

I see skyrim's everywhere, when will Bethesda re-re-release SKyrim for my microwave, toaster and washmachine??

If the VR additions are similiar to those in Fallout 4 VR, they can keep it.

When I play VR games, I want to open doors by grabbing that goddamn knob. Not by pressing a virtual button on a touchpad.

Compared to other games I played on VR, this game was super disorienting and immediately made me feel sick in vr. Its definitely not optimized for VR even with changing the settings.

Yay for yet another 10 year old game port at full price !

Too bad VR is not an option in the game you already own (like wipeout, very soon), and you have to buy BOTH normal and VR games, and you can't switch to normal mode when you are tired of VR cause they don't share the same savegames.
Pay twice to get third person view!

Sometimes realism for the sake of immersion can be detrimental. For instance having the Pip-boy on your arm in Fallout sounds great, until the umpteenth time you have to raise your arm to manage your inventory and you just set it back to the standard floating Pip-boy menu. I feel like the same would go for opening drawers and other repetitive tasks. Just moving your hand over it and pressing a button to take whatever is in it is much more bearable. Though I suppose opening a door with a knob wouldn't be so bad.

Does anyone else think the whole ''yet another Skyrim port" meme is kinda forced? It's like nobody's counted how many Resident Evil 4 ports there are and I doubt anybody would complain if it came to Switch.

In fact in Fallout 4 VR people were able to use savegames and other stuff from the original Fallout 4 (DLC was accessible, but there were problems with textures not showing at all, I recall). That game was such a lazy port. They just took the base game and modded it instead of building a new game.

So, they actually DO share the same savegame as long as you don't mind moving it from time to time. A simple batch file that takes care of that might be a good solution here.

yeah, it's probably possible on PC only.
I would have appreciate if the consoles could also share the savegame natively. Some PS3 games are doing it (forgot which one, but I remember some games could "see" other game's saves to unlock things.)
I still don't have PSVR version, I would like to try but fear I'll get nausea and wouldn't be able to play a lot.
