I must say it rocks to be able to play classic games on my spanking new vita. Most of these looks amazing on a tiny screen compared to a my 65" tv. I must also say I am pretty disappointed with mame performance though. I thought it should be a breeze for the vita to run games like Outrun, Afterburner, Bubble Symphony etc, but apparently not. If anyone knows of a way to play these full speed on the vita, please let me know.

Does Retroarch work on Henhaku Enso 3.65?

As long as there are no firmware dependencies (those of which I'm not aware of at the moment), it should work just fine.

Note to self: Reminder to update firmware and the front page (doneso).

Front page updated! Mostly the usual link updates and text changes, though I've yet to make sure of any core updates in this version (as well as update the front text regarding firmware version, in light of the 3.65 Enso updater). Expect those in a couple hours.
I also streamlined the thread and removed the excess information leftover from the last year or so, as those simply do not apply whatsoever anymore to the latest versions of RetroArch.

As always, many thanks to the Libretro team for continued support, and everyone participating in this thread for all the morale support these past two years! It's nice to see the Vita become one of the best all-in-one options for retro gaming and homebrew lately.

I tried taking the mcr from my epsxe and renaming it SLUS_000293.srm in the save files location. But that didn't work. I'm trying to figure out a way to transfer my save data from epsxe to retroarch >.<

UPDATE on the 3.65 HENkaku confirmation:

It works (at least from 1.7.1 Stable). As long as you installed it properly following the clearly listed instructions as per TheFlow commands, it should be totally fine.
Can't speak for Cheevos in the past, but apparently enabling Achievements support causes the controller to not autoconfigure itself when booting a game, thus locking one in a demo mode of sorts.

BEEP.
Also have taken the liberty to update the cores list. I cannot speak for the performance of Commodore machines or the Intellivision, since I don't have any ROMsets handy for those systems.

any good themes for the latest retroarch?
wait theres themes??

the retroarch i use (using vba next core) it looks stale, looks plain and boring, where can i find any themes???

can you please tell me how i can set it up like that? my retroarch looks wack and does not show up the content of my gba/snes games like seen on your pictures.
it does not even show those retro console icons, it looks boring and has only text...

how can i get it to look like that and have it show the content (roms) i have for each of the tabs..? load all cores together on start, and then..? scanning directories never displays anything for me.
mayhap i need the roms to be placed in a specific directory..?

its a "menu Icon theme" known as retroactive the default theme is set to Monochrome
aha found it.. thx (now only hoping the games will show up on each tab.)

For the XMB menu driver:
Settings -> User Interface -> Appearance.

Your ROMset needs to be of No-Intro origin; sometimes a GoodROM-originating ROM may ping the whitelist as a recognized title, but otherwise, you'll need to refer to No-Intro ROMsets if you want it to be recognized by RA.
This also means most CD games, and any hacked/translated games are out of the question as well.

Once again,
Settings -> User Interface -> Appearance.
Set a custom Background in that menu (via "Background"), and set its transparency with the relevant settings and/or the foreground shader pipeline (if you want the background effects on top of the wallpaper).

For icons, you'll need to drag the icon pack folder to ux0:data/retroarch/assets/xmb, and set the icon pack in the same submenu listed above, under "Menu Icon Theme."

Where are SAVES located in retroarch? I cannot find it through vitashell at all!

By default, it's either in the Content folder (I.E. where the ROM in question is located), or in the RetroArch data directory/savefiles (as of newest releases, anyways).

I tried taking the mcr from my epsxe and renaming it SLUS_000293.srm in the save files location. But that didn't work. I'm trying to figure out a way to transfer my save data from epsxe to retroarch >.<
MCR = Memory Card.
SRM = Single game save.

You'll have to extract said memory card save files individually and convert them to an SRM/RA-friendly format, but I don't know of any that exist. Suffice to say, you'll need to live without it.

Or just use Adrenaline, that works too...

this looks awesome, i wish i could make mine look like this with those icons and with the roms actually displaying.
i will be trying to fiddle with it later on.

Google's your best friend, friend.

Refer to what you just quoted for more information.
what I said a few minutes ago said:

Playlists -> Scan Directory/Scan File. If it's successful, a new titled playlist will be automagically added off to the side, depending on the system (or in the Playlists tab in GLUI).

Google's your best friend, friend.
i find nothing googling.
but that is no biggie, why is the user interface not changing for me though?

it was monochrome by default, and it is only text.
i want to try the other interface options such as flatui/retroactive, i switch to them then i quit and launch RArch again but nothing changes, do i need to place any files into the rarch folder or something?
