Trying method 2 before going for a public seed. I haven't done any sysformat of anything, but my movable and friend code seed are the same for some reason. Only NAND backup I have is from WAAAY back before installing CFW. Any way I can use that method? I've checked the old NAND backup and it has the exact same ones inside...

Using a public one for now. Didn't manage to get the second method to work for me.
Make sure you have a done a systransfer since it only works if you have.
Haven't done one, thanks for the clarification. Found a public one that works, so it's all good for now. Hoping to find a new private one somehow soon...
Can't hash check it right now (plus too lazy), but I found it via a dedicated page to seeds that linked to a GDrive link with it. If that's the one you are talking about, then it's that one.

To be clear, once a system is banned, i can't just do a system transffer from a N2DSXL to another new N2DSXL to get unbanned?

No, the seed itself stays on that console. So it would clear the ban. As long as it isnt a NNID ban, you will be fine.
This is a very confused topic that I have actually done. I transferred an old 3ds xl to a new 3dsxl and no ban transferred in the process but there are people who have transferred the ban over. What I think I found out is that the people who injected a new unbanned seed and a blank nnid before transferring did not transfer the ban but those who only injected a blank nnid transferred the ban.
Btw method 3 isn't exactly dead. It depends on the kind of ban you have, I suppose. Just successfully got around a 002-0102 by literally just replacing the LFCS_B with another one.
It's not dead... It's a long story why the poll says that which you can figure out by reading the first 10 comment pages.
