I'm using 1.11.4b on a GTX 1080/i7 6700 and Pikmin 3 will not boot. I tried putting a cleared save file in the relevant directory. Does not help. I tried making sure I was emulating the Gamepad, displaying the Gamepad on a separate window, tabbing/control tabbing to the gamepad window to make sure it was registering... nothing. It asked the first time if I wanted to configure Spotpass and displays the image of some Pikmin at the very beginning, but it won't load past that. Thoughts?

I did. I've also tried it on 1.4.0, 1.11.0 where I saw others had it working, but I keep getting the same result.

Im going to see the new Godzilla next week. Sure they aren't some cinematic masterpieces but the last few were all really great and fun popcorn flicks to see on the big screen.
