What are your opinions i notice a lot of the switch games i play have them should more have them or less? Do you like them? I like having something to work for and getting something even if its pointless as a reward.

Agreed but id say its a step in the right direction for nintendo. I like an even mixture of both in-game and profile based achievements. Similar to mobile games where google play has a set and the game has a set that gives rewards.

I actually could careless about them. I just want a game 100% complete when i spend money on it. I want minimal bugs. The game has to work long after the servers are gone (unless its an mmo of course). I expect quality and not just some shitty games slapped on a purchased engine. I guess its to much to ask?

Its one of the reasons i enjoy Nintendo's games. None of the 3 xenoblades needed patches to work. They all work out of the box. Mario works out of the box. I know that if i spend $60 on a game made by Nintendo im going to get a quality product.

Would be a great idea, I never was an achievements/trophies kind of guy but my friend got me into it.
Its a great excuse to beat a game to 100% or to play the game again just to get the trophies.

I prefer Borderlands style mini XP/money rewards for trying certain things if we must.

As far as trophments go I dislike the concept (pointless rewards, lazy game design -- I should not theoretically want to be trying certain styles of play because of some boring external concept and thus it is basically the game design equivalent of ramming in loads of exposition) and beyond that they impact things like cheats and how they used to play out. Or if you prefer see something like GTA where putting in cheats to have a little rampage will then have to flash up a message saying "this may affect your game", and that is the good scenario as many seem to lack them entirely now*.

*unless you are EA and the skate series, in which case you will try to sell me the cheat for a few dollars.

ingame trophys can be made by any dev if they want it too, i mainly just get 100% or all unlocks and its fine for me, i never cared to fill all the trophys on any ps or xbox game, as long as i collect, finish the game with 100% or everything unlocked im fine.

I thought I heard a rumor earlier about how Nintendo was gonna implement a proper achievements system like on Xbox and PlayStation with their upcoming Switch Online update, as part of whatever it is they're revamping about their online infrastructure. I too would like achievements. I'm not an achievement hunter and I could care less about them, but it kinda feels nice having them there anyways.

I'm not a big fan of trophies to be honest, I don't like the game telling me "oh you did something cool". When I do something cool or noteworthy, I'll know it. And in my opinion they can draw the player away from their normal play-style/pace in order to grab some hollow rewards, rather than just experiencing the game for what it is.

Though I understand a lot of people are into trophies/achievements, which is why I'll say again that this is my opinion. It's fine to like trophies/achievements just as much as it is to dislike them.

I used to go after Achievements & Trophies obsessively, but now I find them annoying and prefer playing without them.

If I could completely disable them, I would. It's so easy to do them wrong and aggravate completionists.

Online-only and limited-time-only Achievements/Trophies are the worst.

and then those impossible ones like playing the entire game on hard without dying once and such, such annoying , thats why i gave up caring for them, most of them involve spending hours and hours to try.

cheevos is decade old boring gimmick for simple minded persons. Never cared for them. But if some game feats helps you unlock content, it's different matter totally.

I like trophies and achievements. I prefer system wide ones, since it allows for some fun overview and game management options. I'm also sane enough not to get fed up on multiplayer achievements or other boring / impossible ones. If it's a fair one, I'll go out of my way to do it - but if it's bullshit, I don't care about it.

The ultimate way to do system wide achievements would be to allow the user to mark a game as "finished".
100% the game and it is automatically set as "completed". But if there is some achievements you don't care about, and you are done with the game, allow the user to mark it as "finished" for the statistics.

i always liked how ubisoft club's system for this. Earn points for the achievements n now weekly/month challeges. The points then can be used on unlockables for any ubisoft title, even ubisoft titles you just started playing. I wish micosoft, sony and nintendo did this as well for titles.

Agreed. As much as I hate Ubisoft's platform, their achievement system has been the best. There's an actual incentive to go after now, especially if it helps me unlock shit in other games. What Ninty needs to do is take their playcoin system from the 3DS, make it less gimmicky by tying it to achievements and allowing folks to use it for ingame/system items such as backgrounds, themes and the occasional unlockable.
