The fact that you guys are making another GBA Flashcart after just releasing the Reform makes me a little bitter. What was the point of releasing the Reform if you'd make a better version less than a year afterwards?

Maybe the reform is a low budget product while this one will have a premium price.

Seeing as the reform was a slimmed down version of the EZ-Flash IV, the most likely reason was to get rid of leftover parts. But I do not believe that is a bad thing, the EZ-Flash IV/Reform is rather inexpensive, most likely this will be slightly higher priced. It might even make the IV/Reform drop in price further.

The more choices the better. Me? It doesn't make me feel bitter even though I just bought a reform a few weeks ago. It's not that the reform suddenly stops working.

Perhaps, but I wish they had made that known. I would have waited for the newer version if that had been the case, but as of now, I can't see myself purchasing another flashcart after having just purchased one.

Not to sound entitled or anything, because I know that improvements have to be made. But to release a better flashcart, especially after the poorly-designed EZ Flash Reform was just released, makes me reluctant to want to purchase an EZ Flash product again.

And here we see the Osborne effect in action :). Announcing this new device with old stock still in their inventory would not be a smart business move.

I get that, but if that's the case then it seems a little dishonest of them.

I'm not angry about it or anything, because after getting a working EZ Flash Reform, I like it a lot and I'm pretty content with it. Though I guess had I known a version with RTC was coming out, I would have saved my money.

I think this new one will cost around $70-80 dollars, maybe it's just to have more ez-flash options, like everdrive x3 x5 and x7 series.

I doubt it would cost that much. I'm going to guess that it would be somewhere around $40-$50.
According to the dealers page on the site, Reform is going for $44.99 (discounted from $48.99) excluding shipping.
EZ IV MicroSD Version is going for $35.98 (discounted from $48) excluding shipping.
EZ 3in1 is going for... idk the links on the site are broken.
Maybe other places have them cheaper, but those prices were the ones I could find.

Hmm... even i am dissatisfied of sudden announcement of this new card, just bought a reform (my first gba flash cart) and they announce a newly improved version of the EZ Flash IV, wish they could at least give a bit of hint about it earlier, so could have waited a little longer....

I don't understand. Technology advances every day, new hardware - be it phones, cars, whatever - gets announced every day. Whenever you buy something, there is bound to be a better version eventually.

This is their hint now. They are announcing a future product *now*. It is simply impossible to announce a product without making some people feel bad because they just bought the previous model. Plus, you're getting the hardware you paid for. It's not as if your card will stop working once the new product hits the market.

Besides, the EZ-Flash Team is a company. A company needs to be profitable to remain in business. Components are fixed capital that a company needs to be able to use. This new cartridge will certainly use new components, and the EZ-Flash Team needs to get rid of their existing stock of components they can't use in their future product.

We have seen companies in the past announce a new product, people stopped buying the old one in anticipation of the new model, the company ran out of money and the new product was never released. It's simple economics.

Again, you (and me) just having purchased a new reform is not "evil business", it's just bad timing. Bad timing will always happen. But the Reform does just what it says and what you (and I) paid for. Plus, we don't even know *when* this new flash card is getting released.

i am not saying that it's "evil business" , it's true that technology will advance everyday but just consider this that u just bought a recently released cellphone with 3 MP Camera, Music Player and 3.5' VGA screen at a premium price and then just 2 or 3 months later that company revels an android smartphone with 16 MP camera FHD Screen with loads of other features just a little extra than the premium price, then you would feel that if you had known about the new smartphone then you could have waited a little longer and get yourself the amazing new smartphone. that's what i am saying....

First: you paid a premium price for an EZ-Flash Reform? That device is litterally *less* than a third of the price of the next, "better" (currently available) alternative, the Everdrive GBA 5X, it is already a budget friendly flashcard.

Second: You can always wait a little longer to get better technology for the same price or the same technology for a cheaper price. At some point you have to commit and either decide to buy what's available at this point or wait until something you want (or need) comes around. What would have changed if they made this exact announcement two months ago? You might have waited but the person that bought the Reform 3 months ago would feel the same way you do now. But just because that's not you, you don't care, right?

When announcing a product, you'll never be able to make everyone happy. There will always be the sad person that just bought your old device two days before. It's just unfortunate timing, there is really nothing anyone can do to avoid this, it happens to all of us.

EDIT: what I am saying is: you made a concious decission to buy an EZ-Flash Reform because you decided it's what you want. Stop contemplating about there being something better around the corner, enjoy what you bought for the reason you bought it instead of contemplating "what ifs" :)

In game menu driven savestates, seemingly working in the middle of a fighting game (my previous experience of console level savestates tended to be pause/go to a low activity area and hope).
In game menu to turn cheats on and off, selectable cheats though seemingly only at boot.

Nice.

@Localhorst86 as I said I m not against them or anything, I am content with reform and enjoy playing on it, just saying that 'if' i had known i could have waited for it and get a better version (with cheats & RTS), except I didn't knew that it would take the card a year or so to hit the shelves....

If you're happy with your EZ-Flash Reform, everything is fine :)

btw, we don't know a release date yet. Could be a year, could be a month. I assume @Technicmaster0 doesn't know either, he was just pointing out that it could be further away than you might think. All we know is that creating a product takes time. EZ-Flash have not yet announced pricing and availability for this new device, they are, at this point, announcing the device with teasers. We don't know if they are currently still in the prototyping phase or have finished the hardware design and started production already and are now just debuging and improving the software. My guess is that by day 7 we will be told a rough estimate on the release date and pricing.[/user][/user]

Back to the topic: save states look nice. And the cheat function also seems rather robust, I wonder I we can simply use Action Replay codes or if the card will have their own cheat codes. It would also be cool if we were able to search for cheats ourself, it's something I enjoyed a lot as a child on my Xploder for the GB(C). Since we can apparently already bring up an in-game-menu, this might be possible, but I do not know how memory limitations might keep this from happening.

That's good news. These are rather straightforward to understand and fairly easy to find using an emulator on PC.

Code:

ON=42254,63
OFF=0000,0
